    Another Alta TR: 10/28/07

I was out of town for the powderfest that was Alta last weekend. I was disappointed and a little disheartened, that is until I saw Lu's TR yesterday--I knew there was still hope. And there was.

I met Shmoesmith at the bottom of Colllins early in the PM. He sported the split, I booted, and we hiked as far up the Baldy chutes as coverage would allow.

    Today's line:

The view from Baldy was amazing. I can hardly contain myself at this point--I haven't been on a board since May. The light is bad, but there is a tasty spine directly behind me that is absolutley begging to be hucked. Not this early, though.

This is the chute skier's right of where we dropped. It was tempting, but coverage again was a little questionable, and it looked like the wind had blown a lot from here into our chute.

Dropping in. Even a week after the storm, we're only following 2 sets of tracks. The wall of this spine was still deep and soft.

There was a little bit of sun crusting, but for the most part, everything was settled but soft.

    Traversing out.

I did not expect to be riding this weekend, and that made today all the sweeter.

Thanks to Shmoe for coming out and helping show me the way.

Yeah, I told DrGonzo that he was going to be dealing with a sore, tired and hungover Shmoesmith if I went. He agreed to keep the volume low and wait for my pansy ass to slowly drag myself up the mountain. The snow wasn't as good as yesterday, but we were on a different aspect....still, tough to complain about the conditions. The shot we hit was still pretty creamy.

OK, 3 days in a row of climbing up that bitch while dealing with partying till 4am on each night..I'm tired and going to rest my weary legs now. Good getting out with ya today DrGonzo. Get your avy shit together and we will go out again after the next good storm.
