Good to see Starter finally jumping on the jean bandwagon!

If they start marketing NFL approved boot gaiters, I want credit.

I think you missed the boat on that one...

I saw no less than 4 people skiing/boarding in jeans this past Saturday. What the hell is going on here. One of them might not count as it was one of those emo kids with jeans so tight that he probably can't take them on or off.

Right. Who in the hell would brag about getting their heart rate up? The point was that the codes were given in exchange for hard effort and not just given away on clearence. Smith got what they wanted. And my comment was directed at mtlion who equated his "forwarding" of a mass mailer to my earning the codes.

    wrong on both accounts:

you have worked very hard physically to get that deal from smith. congratulation. No really, it is hard to race at that level, and it is great that you have spent that much time training, racing etc.

I think you are missing the point of a sponcership.

You where not given the codes for you hard work racing, or placing a name on a jersey, or a high heart rate, not because you won races, not because you worked hard to get a team together. You where given the codes to help promote smith to other racers. This was not something that they gave you as payment (to sell) or as a prize, but to help them. You selling, trading, or even giving away smith product doesn't help them or the retailers.

Sponcership is a 2 way street, you wear, promote and help sell product, they give you a deal on it. The more you can sell, more of a discount you will get. This can keep going all the way to: you win this event, or you get our name in a magazine, or our logo on in a picture you will get this much cash.

your "job" is to promote the company, not sell it to buddies.

40% isn't that great anyway, unless you want the "latest" item ahead of everyone else.
