Smith Employee discount code ... want Pata outerwear

    My bike racing team is (was) sponsored by Smith. In exchange for name placement on jerseys, we receieved a handful of employee discount codes in order to purchase eyewear. I have four codes that are currently going begging. For all I know I'm breaking policy, but the team has dissolved and the Smith purchase program is limited in such a way that Smith won't lose its shirt. Here are the rules;

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
    1. The code is valid for a one-time purchase. No matter how many times you visit and log in, the code is still valid until you complete your purchase.

    2. You can purchase up to two pairs of Ski Goggles, two pairs of Sunglasses, two Helmets, two pairs of MX Goggles, and unlimited Replacement Lenses, Apparel and Accessories on your order.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, what kind of discount can you realize? Just looking at sunglasses, the employee price is usually 40% of SRP. That's hawt!

Obviously the value of this code is dependent upon how much you buy. I'm interested in trading one code for a Patagucci shell (used or other). Anyone game?

so you are trading something that you got for free, and want to trade it for a jacket that someone paid for.

tell you want. I have a secret list of patagonia deals. usually 50% off MSRP, you send me the smith info. I'll send you that info. We both paid nothing for our info, and we both get a deal that we want

It was hardly free. I busted my ass getting podium spots racing which translated into value for sponsors. I appreciate that you're generous enough to share your Patagonia list with everyone on this board, but please. Clicking on "new post" is nothing like bumping up against your max heart rate for 3 hours.

Beside, maybe someone has an older jacket that's just collecting dust.

    Move along now.

I am curious how Smith feels about this thread since I know of at least two people that work for Smith that are regulars on this board.

So you got it for free? Last time I checked no one races mountain bikes for the bike nascar payoff, you do it because you enjoy it, if you get sponsors and they throw down thats just a payoff.

In related news, how about you give me the Smith discount code, I kick you in the nuts, and we call it a day? Sounds good? Great.

    lame

So a company helps you out and you repay them like this. Do you realize you are not only fucking over Smith but everyone that participates in the program. First rule of pro form is, don't talk about it and don't even think about trying to do what you are attempting here.

I hope the years of EPO and HGH abuse cause your testicles to implode.

Jesus ... It's not a fuckin' coupon that everyone can use. They release a certain number and when its used it's gone. In essence, they've already paid for it.

As for my comment to mtlion, he called me out and I spit back. Sue me.

And does everyone think that Smith sponsors athletes and teams for fun? They get value and the team/athlete gets some schwag. No one is getting screwed here.

They sponsor you because you're good at what you do. They want the public seeing you wear their stuff so the public will buy it. It's a business move called athlete endorsement.

If Smith wanted you wearing a Patagonia jacket for the public to see, I'm sure something could be arranged but Smith isn't into making money for Patagonia as far as I know.

If Smith wanted a bunch of internet nerds giving the TGR interweb nerd endorsement, they could have just posted the codes here.

As stated above, the first rule of proform club is you don't post your private codes for sale or trade on a public internet forum.

There are ways to work deals with proforms and you obviously haven't figured them out yet.

You're totally missing the point. They give YOU the code so YOU can buy their stuff cheap(above and beyond what they may or may not give you for free) so YOU (or your hottie chica) as their sponsored athlete can be seen in it for their promo benefit. This is exactly what fucks it up and why product sponsors find it so frustrating to work with anyone but the most elite athletes. Selling sponsor discount codes on the internet is bullshit.

    Now move along douchenozzle!

Agreed. Thank you for making sense. The rub is that the codes go begging one way or the other. Guess I'll swallow them and take my own advice and move along.
