    Marker or Look Bindings??

I have always used Marker bindings in the past and have been happy with them, but I am torn with either going with the Look px12 or Marker 12.0 Free Ride setup for my Mantras. I have heard and read pros and cons for each company, but I have never skied on Look bindings so my thoughts are skewed...so im looking for some insight on both bindings. thanks for the help

    search JONG!

just a preview: you won't find many marker 12 supporters here, but depending on how you ski (weight, aggro?, hucks?) , maybe it won't make much of a difference

"you won't find many marker 12 supporters here,"

hmmm, what about all the folks jumping on the Duke/Jester bandwagon?

as for binding for your Mantras, get some Mojo 15's.

    end of story.

also there's this nifty sticky at the top of this page entitled "Recommended Ski & Binding List" check it out:

(oh yeah, just so you know, cuz I feel kinda band for your Jongness, Look and Rossi are the same bindings).

    ^ Marker Free 12s suck.

Jester is still out for debate, but it is a DIN 6 to 16 binding with a completely different design.

    Go

Look bindings IMHO are much better than Markers. I've heard the new axial2 design (PX) has almost as much elastic travel as the original turntable design, so if you do end up getting them you will probably have a better chance of recovery before the bindings release. Either way, Looks tend to have a higher resale value, especially on this site. By the way, if you can get some older turntable bindings that would be bomber.

Like my grandma says, play the field bro.

If you don't ski on a bunch of different brands, how will you know which ones to sardonically impugn on the interforums?

buy whatever the people with the highest post counts ski on and you will rip. their opinions matter the most.

FWIW - I have never had any problems with the Px12; I ski pretty aggressive and weigh more than most.

I would say buy a pair of salomon bindings! I used to tweek my knee every time i had a good yard sale; Then i got some new bindings, and it has not happened since.

Go over to Al`s ski barn and check out the salomon 916`s. I believer they will hook you up with a set of wide brakes at no extra charge either.

    Sigh...

Steve, here is the answer: it does not matter.

If you've never pre-released, and you don't break bindings, then basically any binding in your DIN range will work for you. If you need a 916 or a P18 or a Duke, you'll know it.

I prefer sollys, 914/916 depending on what din you want and how heavy you want them.
I did have one set of markers 10+ years ago and got tired of prereleasing while spinning 3's.

The only pair of bindings i have ever broken were Markers.

The last few pairs of bindings i have owned have been salomons and tyrolia.. They have always stayed on my feet and have only released when i wanted them.
As for look, i know people who are loyal to them but i have never used them.

Just don't fall and sit on the heel piece...

I use Salomon S914s, getting the Duke, and possibly the STH 16.

If you don't have look on your skis, you will be looking for your skis.
I have skied markers fom years and had problems breaking toe pieces. Switched to rossi/look turntable four years ago and will never ski markers again.

I would agree and just stay with the Marker. This will probably be a hugely unpopular answer around here but if you're not having any trouble with them then why change what isn't broken. Maybe Marker fits your skiing style well.
