    Broken Ankle???

So I badly twisted my ankle the other day. It hurt like a bastard, but figured it wasn't a big deal. That was Saturday when the injury occurred. I iced it and later wrapped it. For the Sunday and Monday I didn't do much of a job keeping off it and limped around a lot of places. Stupid idea I am sure.

Today it is still pretty swollen around the ankle bone, but less so then when it happened. There is also a pool of dark purple running along the bottom of my foot that is really pronounced. My friends said it was "bad blood"??

Anyway, I am now hearing about a few friends who had minor breaks who were in the same amount of pain I was in and who's swelling didn't go away much like mine hasn't.

The catch is, I can COBRA if I want, but I don't have health insurance and was hoping to avoid paying for it until my new job starts!!!

I'd at least get it checked out and get some x-rays.

I did the same to my ankle in summer 2006 and let it go too long, and now find that the injury has led to cyst development in the bone and an osteochondral lesion in the joint, and may need surgery to clean it out.

Suck it up and get it checked, at least at your GP. My 0.02

Yeah, I am leaning toward that. Although, that will cost my 1000 bucks essentially. FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK. It looks horrible and purple right now though!

Depending on where you are, you could go to a teaching hospital or free clinic maybe, at least have it looked at and then make a decision on whether or not to get an Xray.

go get the x-ray, you'd be pissed if it was broken and end up missing part or all of your ski season.

Smart idea on the x-ray. I bit the bullet and got it, don't want my ski season messed up. Don't have the results yet, but the doc thought that based on where I had pain I may have some small bones broken. Should find out tomorrow!
