    Pistols for cheap, should I?

I can get new Seth Pistols for $200. Should I do it? In general, what do you guys think of the skis? I have a pair of PR, that (gasp!) I really like, so I don't think the soft flex will bother me. Does anybody here ski them?

    you should!

If you can get over the graphics, I think you should. I havent skiied them, but I am putting in this plug on behalf of bc-flow (who's away from his computer today - bastard). They are soft, but the positioning of the flex point is supposed to be perfecto, and at least you wont break them. How big are you? BC is 6'3, 240 and has a race background. He is crazy about the pistols, as are most people surveyed by britney. I would have bought a pair myself (instead of my scratch bc's) except that I cant get behind the graphics. What can I say, I'm vain. But for 200$ I wouldnt ask any questions...

Thanks, welcome to TGR, I hope you're still lurking at PMag too. I'm 6'1", about 190, have flowing dirty blond surfer hair and love walks on the beach, sunsets over wine, mass................uh, sorry. So yeah, I think I would fit into a 189. Did you ever pick up binders for those BCs? (I like your demon/gremlin, whatever you call it.)

haha. [in best southern drawl] now, now, boys -- theres no need to fight. there's enough of my avatar to go around. [dont you like that they're called avatars? anyone read snowcrash?]

yeah, i dont like the softness of the PR's, but the seths' flex point is supposed to be farther forward, which makes all the difference according to steve at skogen's old shop in marin (and of course according to k2).

and lets remember -- THEYRE 200 FREAKIN DOLLARS! buy low, sell high.

bossass -- you are my hero for saving me from the demo binders over at powmag!! i was reading too fast and didnt see the word "demo." (the ones you pointed out on ebay sold for almost 200, which is too high for ebay imho). no, i still dont have any, or boots. i did, however, just acquire some hawaiian print seat covers for my car. so at least i've got that going for me, which is nice.

Ski 'em...You might like them. They ski more solid than the shop flex test would indicate. I have the 179 SP's and love them. I sold my PR's because the Pistols do what they did, but handle speed and groomers better. I also really like them in the park. That being said, I picked up a pair of 189's ( haven't skied them yet) to up the ante.
I was a bit hesitant about the soft tip, but these rip for me. The torsional stiffness and added width definitely make a difference. I can ski faster on these in crud than on other fatter and stiffer skis I have tried, but that might be a preference thing.

Get them for $200 and sell your PR's off and get a pair of Kahuna's.

    Yeah,
I'd really like the Kahuna's, but alas, the oppurtunity I have is only for SP. Thanks for the insight.

    Thumbs up

uhhh yeah you are gonna want to buy em for 200 bucks. it'll be 200 well spent dollars.

what they all say is true though. the tip n' tail are soft fo shur but they ride so good. i'm on the 189 and love the ski to death. they are damn solid at mach (even on hardish groomers) and they have a butter smooth turn in em. they remind me of my ol K2 GS racers except they kill the soft stuff and cali crud and park and, and... too. it's just a plain ol dope ski.

Let me get this straight...are you trying to tell me that the shop flex test is not the most surefire way to test a pair of skis in all snow conditions known to man? Well shit, there goes Tech Talk!

But the shop kid with braces and zits told me they were rad, because all his bros ride them... Doesn't that count for something?!?

Well there's that plus the sight down both edges like a shotgun test and the whack the shovel with the heel of your hand and vibration test. After that shakedown, a demo is not needed.

    Red face well besides that

well yeah, the shop kid with the zits is the real testing ground. he told me this ski is super dope sick with mad steeze and even though the only switch riding i do is downloading the bunny chair i'd get big play with the ski chicks in the lodge.

i mounted mine up with some salomon quadra bindings. the DIN goes all the way up to 8. dope!

he also suggested i get a studded punk rock belt and a poof poof jacket. who's the s _ _ _ t now?

oh and the flex test is the second most important thing after the shop kid, we all know that.

    hehe - bcf

Isn't this like asking an alcoholic if you should get a drink?

I say get 'em you can probably find some maggot to sell em to if you don't use 'em. That's why I have a pair of solly 912 sitting at a sale for $80. or at least justified buying them. Now to get some skis to match these bindings...
