    Garmisch-Nov 5-10

I'm going to be in Munchen in early November and was thinking about taking a couple of extra days to make some turns in Garmisch, Innsbruck or Kitzbuhel before I have to head home. I know it's a coin toss with snow conditions but where would be my best bet this early in the season? I've been skiing in late November over in Zell Am See and had great conditions but a big part of me wants to check out the new gondola in Kitzbuhel.

The only thing open at that time in Garmisch will be the Zugspizte, but I hear they have been getting some decent snow. My little bro lives there in the winter and has heard from him friends that it has been snowing...

I have a few friends who have left the resort in the past couple of years to spend a season in Garmisch, also know a couple who are working at the army recreation place near there. - wasn't planning on skiing but I just figured I'll be close, why not give it a try!

You may want to consider Stubital or Solden that time of year in that area for good early season snow. Unless winter comes really hard and early, the glacier's will be the place to be before Thanksgiving. I lived in the area for many, many years and always had good luck at both early (I met AG @ Solden over Columbus Day weekend in 99'). Stubital was always closer for me, has great cheap lodging, the mountain kicks ass and is close to Innsbruck. Kitzbuhl is pretty low and will need a really strong early season to open that early for normal business.

Any of you Big Sky guys know Shred in Garmicsh? I know he has a solid connection with MT and recruits for the AFRC heavily in your area. Great guy, we've shared some great pow days together.

    WOULD IT!?!"

Stubai Glacier is the biggest and closest but kinda sucks terrainwise - boringly flat if snow doesn't go down to the valley floor or you are willing to hike.

Ötztal, Pitztal and Kaunertal glaciers are all well within a 1.5 hrs drive, much more rewarding than the Zugspitzplatt.
