This quiver is going to rock. I assume you got the Squads?
I've got more suits than Liberace, but less than Eastvailhucker.

Just wanted to update. I swapped out squads for movement Goliaths mounted with Sally ninja 916s. I have a partially erect penis as I post this link of my brand new setup just hooked up by Krash. We dont even have an inch on the ground yet. Therefore I am frusterated, but stoked. You are the man Krash

Yep - squads arrived last week Quick binding adj. w/ no redrill and they're good to go. Little slow passing through customs but just in time for the snow.......and do they ever look minty - sooo stoked....thanks mang!

Since you are stoked and "up for a challenge", then they won't "suck" for you like your friends say. Still, they might not be the best match for you. I don't know.

You'll get on top of the Squads and be really stoked for powerful skiing in the right conditions, but Squads are stiff, so you gotta muscle them to turn tighter than their 34m radius. So there will plenty of other days when you'll get tired of forcing your Squads into tight turns and say "maybe I should have ridden my im88's today". If your goal is to avoid your im88's, then go for Squads and swap the im88's for something cheap/used that you're more stoked about. Otherwise, forget the stiff-ass Squads and get a more watered down everyday ski (new Goats, 186 LPs)---then you never really need to ski the im88's anyway.

Still on the fence? I heard Squad mount line is pretty far back (necessary to keep a stiff tip floating up in pow). Consider mounting Squads slightly forward (maybe +1cm?). Still takes muscle to bend them into tighter arcs, but FW mount reduces swing weight when unweighted or in the air (tight bumps/jump turns on steeps), and reduces pivot resistance from the edges while in contact with the surface (forcing/skidding tighter turns). This increases tip dive in pow, but not for lucky you---you have Lotus 138's on floater days.

Best is to demo if you can. Squaw Valley Sport Shop is steps from KT, so you can demo 4-5 pairs at the one-day rate if you're quick about it.
Wonderful in depth analysis of the squad by someone who has never ridden them.

Haha, thats funny. I pop off about skis I've never been on before too, but I always tell them first. I know squads would have ruled, but I heard so many great things about the Goliath that I had to see for myself. You're a squad lover though arnt ya ? Is Vitamin off ?

Yeah he is. The squads have a fairly forward mount line, mounting farther forward sounds retarded.

    Good call Shasti!

I missed out on Krash's deal, the guys local to me too. Got a deal on some new ones though so I'm stoked. Goliaths, 138s, keepin the Gots to fool aound on and hoping the first will blow my Calvins off so I can sell them. Fuck yeah, this is going to be a good winter!!

Rob we're soulmates. I have a cheap hookup on gots, but I think they're so similar to the goliath, what would I need them for ? The gots have more sidecut and a twin, but I've heard the goliath is just better, with the possible exception of straightup hard snow carving. What length are your gots and do you think you'll ever ski them ? and out of curiosity, what are calvins ?

190 Gots will probably be my rock/hard snow park/general poor snow fooling around skis. Basically if I really like the Goliaths I'll probably just sell off the Gots. I don't think they will be that similar. Yeah similar in waist but Goliaths should be much more of a charger. And Calvins? Calvin Klein underwear, jeesh!

Ok, so the consensus for a two ski quiver seems to be something in the 95-105mm range for "everyday" use and something 120+mm for soft days. So for the PNW should I go with a reverse/reverse like a Praxis or just a flat skis like a Katana for my powder/crud ski. I'm thinking of putting together a Praxis or Katana/LP or Mantra setup. On a limited budget which one would you buy first, powder ski or all mountain (considering my rock skis are an all mountain).

    Mine:

-BD Crossbow 179 (tele) -EC/ice/spring touring
-Stiff BRO 188 (tele) - anything that isn't ice

Pretty satisfied with this setup until I move out of the EC and will hopefully only ski non-eastcoast-like-ice in which case I can bump up to some bigger skis, hopefully.

179hellbent/duke(maybe 189 depending on how the 179 goes)
    179 pistol/duke(not yet mounted)
if the dukes prove to be all that and a bag of...will find a second pair and mount em up.
never skied a marker before this year, even way back.

Nexus. Get praxis and 186LP and dont hijack the thread. There are TONS of threads out there that answer the questions you are asking about all those skis. SEARCH

When he made his own thread asking what skis to get you told him to look at this thread. When he looks at this thread you tell him not to hijack the thread?

Who cares what he posts in this thread. Oh I forgot, you started the thread so you can call the shots right...

    ^^You're right Safety.

I became that guy: dick because they dont need your question answered. You'll find plenty of em on this board. We dont need any more. Sorry nexus

FYI there's lots of info on all of the skis you are thinking of. The gist of all this info (I have never skied them but I have read A LOT about them) is that 186LPs are the sickness, so are Praxis. That would be an amazing 2 ski quiver anywhere on the west. Here's the review link. Funnily, as I was searching, I realized that its pretty tough to find what you want sometimes on this site. Maybe more often than not "search JONG" is a useless statement.

BTW, if you are looking at LP and Praxis, also consider tha gotama, B-squad, 188 BRO, Kneissel Tanker, Lotus 138, ARG, and maybe ANT depending on how big you are/how you like to ski.

    190 Gotama '08 w/ Dukes

The intent was to have the goats as my "pow" and BC/slackcountry setup, but after reading all of the 2 ski quivers here I think it's too much of an overlap ... should have gone with the Katana and put the Dukes on the Sploders.
