What does the tech talk crowd think about this quiver:

    183 im103s
    191 Scott P4

I've been stressing about this for two weeks, think I'm finnally ready to commit and put the pro order in:

xxls with 916 - every day
lp with naxos - front country
b94 respect with dynafits - backcountry

not to make matters worse, but...

aren't you in central BC, applying for that Rogers Pass thing?
Meaning, you're in a place where it snows a shit ton?

If I've got that right, why do you have two backcountry rigs that are 94mm and 97mm underfoot (if I got that right too)?
Those are really similar, and neither are particularly hudge?
Purely for the dynafit vs. naxo difference?
Why not just put the Dynafits on the LPs and have only two pair of boards total?
Too heavy? So, why not the XXL with 916 and B94 Respect with Dynafit?
Or is that you also want to be able to tour in alpine boots for frontcountry?

Anyway...just trying to help you think about it...
XXLs, LPs ,and B94s are definitely a nice combo, so long as you really think you're getting the coverage you want with both the b94 and the LP.
And not like I'm one to preach about actually only having limited pairs of skis - I am so far from a two ski quiver right now, it's not even funny.

EDIT: Oh wait, I'm an idiot - your pro deal is Rossi/Dynastar, right?
    Check out this thread! http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=97229

One really good idea there for you - the Rossi Raven. It's the telemark version of the Steeze. 110mm underfoot.
Keep the XXL w/916s as inbounds.
Do the Raven w/Naxos as front country.
Then the B94 Respects w/Dynafits for backcountry.

It depends what kind of terrain the resorts I would be skiing had.

If its billygoatingish Bridger type stuff, then 190 DP120s and maybe 186 LPs.

If its lots of wide open steep stuff then probably 194 squads and either 200 DP120s, or 200 Iggy FFFs. In a perfect world, the squads would be just a touch softer than they are, but what can you do.

i'm going to be making a similar decision--don't want to hijack but I currently have ANTs and need something softer, twinny, and fat for park and BC booterage. I'm replacing 179 1st gen seths that served this purpose pretty well but were too short. I'm thinking:

    JP vs. J
    189 seth
    armada ARV

    thoughts are appreciated

I'm twitching to pull the trigger on this combo...

    196 Moment Ruby <edit...trigger = pulled>
    195 Praxis <edit...trigger = pulled>

I've had my cart filled again and again but just can't make the click...

Yeah, I agree. I was wondering about the B94s in your other thread. I ski a similar area and have blowers for deep and some cheeeeap used ANTs for spring touring. Rogers and south can be deep and Reve can get pretty wet too. A B94 might be a pain. I realise you have proform limitations but I'd seriously look at the steeze/raven for the dynafit rig. Sorry if that's not what you wanna hear . Either way I don't think the B94s would be bad Plenty of folks still tour on the old B3s.

And Robnow, that graph does have it's own thread, and Endre is a sometime mag. He did do some explaining about his flex findings. He was extremely thorough in his methodology too, it's solid work.

    steezy combo

yeah, im in the same boat...trigger pulled on the Praxis 195's, but looking for something that can blaze through everything else Whistler has to offer. Any suggestions?? I was thinkin some dp's (maybe xxl's), some sploders or the gotamas (maybe too much of a pow ski).

waiting for the turkey sale in whistler and hoping to catch one of these boys. What do you think?

I was in that same boat until Arty and basom talked me into the Moment Ruby. They feel it's akin to the old Gotama with a bit more under foot.

Can't seem to get a response in the other form... so I'll post here.

07/08 193 Nordica Supercharger Blowers + Marker Duke binding
    07/08 177 Nordica Supercharger Ignitions + Salomon S914 binding

I Was going to get the Volkl Katanas in a 197 or 190, and the Salomon Dumonts, but Volkl ran out of the Katanas for a pro order, and Salomon hasn't gotten skis on their site yet. So I had to pull the trigger on the Nordicas before they ran out or something.

Anyone heard much on either of the Nordica skis?

addict, CK thanks for the advice.

i'm feeling pretty happy with the dynastar setups.

I've just never gone the dynafit route before and am worried about how much ski they are able to handle. I know they are torsionally rigid yaddy yaddy ya. I want to go with a light weigth and hard charging ski but at the same time something that's not so stiff its going to run away from me with megarides and comforts. What I really need is a DP wailer. but being working patrol for 13 bucks an hour kind of limits me to what I get my pro deals on.

Vitamin I thanks for the heads up. Technically I am cheating. I have a pair of Head IM88s in 186 for the days when there's neither depth for 138s nor the coverage to make big turns on squads. Theyre nice and versatile, but sort of pansy and i dont ski them often. I'd like to swap they for something stiffer.

As for squads I have only skied them in 184. i know this is an entirely different bag of potato chips from the 189s and I bet I will have my ass served up a few times before I get on top of them. As for other skis, I know a lot but have little experience. With a few exceptions, Ive skied 1st gen goats all the time. This was great but now that I am branching out I want to make the right steps.

I am still on the fence tho. I want to stick with squads but ive had friends who ski better than I do say they suck unless you have room to open them up. I'm 195 and pretty athletic, and I'm up for a challenge. I know goats or LPs would be the easier route, but the burl is tempting

Tough call. I don't know much about you, but if I had to speculate...

Since you are stoked and "up for a challenge", then they won't "suck" for you like your friends say. Still, they might not be the best match for you. I don't know.

You'll get on top of the Squads and be really stoked for powerful skiing in the right conditions, but Squads are stiff, so you gotta muscle them to turn tighter than their 34m radius. So there will plenty of other days when you'll get tired of forcing your Squads into tight turns and say "maybe I should have ridden my im88's today". If your goal is to avoid your im88's, then go for Squads and swap the im88's for something cheap/used that you're more stoked about. Otherwise, forget the stiff-ass Squads and get a more watered down everyday ski (new Goats, 186 LPs)---then you never really need to ski the im88's anyway.

Still on the fence? I heard Squad mount line is pretty far back (necessary to keep a stiff tip floating up in pow). Consider mounting Squads slightly forward (maybe +1cm?). Still takes muscle to bend them into tighter arcs, but FW mount reduces swing weight when unweighted or in the air (tight bumps/jump turns on steeps), and reduces pivot resistance from the edges while in contact with the surface (forcing/skidding tighter turns). This increases tip dive in pow, but not for lucky you---you have Lotus 138's on floater days.

Best is to demo if you can. Squaw Valley Sport Shop is steps from KT, so you can demo 4-5 pairs at the one-day rate if you're quick about it.

The jump in stiffness from ANTs, to any of the skis you listed is hudge. You might think about something like Gots, a good deal softer than ANTs, but not just noodly like the ARVS.
