25 years ago, there was much, much more of (picture number 2) riding, and I miss it. It was a particular skill set that not a lot of Rocky Mountain people get to master. Everything gets cut out now.

Ride-it, agreed too much flow sometimes, not enough techy OG nonsense. I love fresh deadfall. Came up to this one back in the spring and cleared off just enough to make it rideable. Was expecting it to get fully cut out quickly, fortunately they only chopped out a go-around and left the main line, you can see the fresh cut. I do a lot of trail work and do the same. Don’t ramp, learn the bump jump.
Edit - Rode my local lunch loop and counted 15 log-overs in 6 miles. Ranging from 6" to about 2', many of which are optional, especially the bigger ones.

Laughs as east coaster, though obviously depends on speed, steepness and room between them. Took me quite a while to get the timing of the double trees, pic 2 that ride-it called out above, as they are just long enough for wheelbase between them. So you’re initiating the front wheel lift before rears wheel is fully rolled off first one.
On the flip side we definitely dont have many progressive flow trails around here, so get good at what you have access to.

Speed is high due to steepness which is for real. About 2 bike lengths between the trees. First time I tried without the rocks I was slightly off on the timing, clipped the back wheel on the 1st tree, and got launched otb. Managed to put both hands on the 2nd tree and push off then went face first into the dirt. Could have been ugly so the rocks were moved into place. And I really wanted to use the mossy one, it's not every day you find moss in UT!

I'm not a fan of natural wood speed bumps. They can be especially annoying with the new bikes and the low and slack geo.
I could see including features like them tho on a slow, sort of semi awkward tech trail if people are into that.
But on a fast ripper? Like they force ya to grab a bunch of brake in the middle of some flowy fun? I saw em out.

I love riding back East for this reason! And yes, I was being serious. Love that kind of ‘mock-trials’ riding, it separated the niños from the chicos!
But yes, RA, like everything, they have to exist in the context of the rest of the trail character.
That was precisely my point about Rocky Mountain riders not encountering much of it, unless you explore a bunch.
