The section of rim trail into Tahoe city is a reroute. The original glass mountain trail took you over a bunch of shale (hence the name) and was a better descent in most peoples' opinion.

The new one has bedded in enough, it's certainly better than it was. The original one was better though. It went through some bird habitat so they 'had to' reroute it is the way I understood it at the time. Seems like the birds would have been doing okay if they recognized a population there but whatever.

TahoeJ - how is Jack London btw? I was thinking of taking the wife there on our next trip to Sonoma. I would call her an intermediate rider. Handles most of the singletrack in JOaquin Miller but has to walk it a fair bit at Annadel (north Burma, for instance).
No gnar was harmed in the writing of this post...

Jack London is kind of underrated. I mean, it's certainly no Annadel, but I tend to go there on weekends when Annadel will be crowded whereas JL will be a ghost town like usual. Very few technical / rocky sections (and even those are pretty mellow) aside from the occasional switchback, so it's definitely intermediate friendly, but of course you can make it a lot more interesting with speed. I've taken a few noobies there and it seemed to go pretty well.

Most people go to the main parking lot and just go up to the top and back down on the mountain trail, which can be fun but it's all double track so after that people kind of write the place off unaware that there's so much more, especially outside of the park boundary and into the Sonoma Developmental Center below. A go-to loop of mine leaves you at the top with 6 miles and 2,000 vertical feet of descending and about 80% of it is single-track. But it's easy to get lost if you don't know the route. They also added 2 new trails this year that are off-shoots you can do for a longer ride (as much as 23-25 miles / 5k vert). PM me if you're interested in specifics / GPS routes.

I've been known to ride my bike in a lot of creative locations, but a popular National park is not one of them. this is just a big granite dome out in national forest land.

Yeah it's definitely not half dome. No 20-35 year old females taking selfies with #WILD

King of the Mountain Enduro yesterday at Mountain Creek NJ.

Jersey's got that hurty granite gnar. First pic from Saturday's practice and other two from race day yesterday. Finished 19th out of 33 with a destroyed thumb from a wreck on stage 5. Sixth thumb surgery this Friday.

Gnar is for sure, definitely one of the hardest trails I've been on. Solid solid race, I'm definitely coming back to see what the rest of the mountain is like.

After multiple successful attempts at this little back yard stunt things went awry. Make sure your sound is up.

Your kid and I have the same bail out moves and sound effects. Can you adopt me? That backyard bike park looks dope.

Clearly I shouldn't have assumed that he would hit the brakes if he rode off the wood

He was fine, and was quickly laughing his ass off when we showed him the video. It would be a funny wreck without the commentary, but the "Oh, terribl...(splat)" makes it freaking hilarious.

Haha, that was great. Glad the little guy had a full face helmet on - it seemed to serve him well in that particular instance. You could send that in for one of the cuter Jerry of the Day clips they've ever posted.

Definitely joking. I could see it all now, like a Greg Stump sketch. Maybe a bike launch off the dome with a chute on? Sounds sketch and illegal.
