Go forth and ride, then bring back pics

Some really fun, technical riding - steep, loose, and rocky. Cool ridge-line riding in spots, marshy in some areas, very different than a lot of riding in this area.

There was also a ton of downed trees and a fair amount of route finding - cairns in place because the trail completely disappears. The steep uphills were really steep - lots of hike a bike. It was a hiking trail first and that shows. Lots of bear sign so even in those sections you could have ridden fast we rode slow and yelled a lot. More and larger huckleberries than I have seen anywhere in my entire life (and I grew up in NW Montana picking huckleberries).

I'm glad to have done it to have seen that remote area and to have a solid riding adventure, but I don't have any deep need to go back and repeat in the near future (next few years).

Hah, rides like that always take a few years before you get to "that wasn't too bad, we should go do that again".

I totally agree. Funny how memory works - it takes a while to forget the difficulty but you tend to remember the high points. There's a ski tour like that that I'm ready to go back and do again. Probably wouldn't be if I could remember why I thought it was bad in the first place. But I can't, so I must be remembering it wrong... :-)

Oh, man... I have one of those 'round these parts. Hardest 19 mile "shuttle" ride I think I've ever done. Twice.

Yeah - the 1st descent involves wandering down though the tundra connecting-the-dots with a few cairns. Then trying to find the exit trail into the woods. Check out the trail profile... the 3rd descent is... kinda fun.

As a Montana native I would appreciate knowing what ride that is prior to it being recommended to me. :-)

I stand by that recommendation

Although I’ll admit SW MT/ East/central ID exploring is not really apples to apples when compared to Western MT/ north ID when you factor in “The Bush”.

Tried out the Insta360 biking for the first time last weekend in Sölden while riding with a bunch of friends. Few snaps from the Ollweite line, which is one my new favourite trails. Similar to Hacklberg in Saalbach, it's a mix of shaped sections and berms with lots of rough and natural stuff left in too. It starts at 2658m with views of the glacier, winding down over 7km to 1946m, where the next trail starts down through the forest to the valley.

Complete with some woodwork (which I'm slowly starting to get the hang of/make it up):

Stitched a few clips following Carina and Sophia together to show pretty much all of the Ollweite line. TBH it's not even very interesting for me to watch haha, so I didn't bother editing beyond cutting out the breaks etc. And there's some horrendous brake wailing towards the end
