Big Sky bike park was nice today, the recent rain helped a lot. Chopper was hauling concrete for the new Swifty 6 lift. Apparently all the choppers have been busy on the fires so this project is behind schedule. Nothing at the base so far but a big hole in the ground.![]()

Woah - been years since I’ve ridden in Da Hood. Post Canyon is truly the shizzle. Hood Rats did a great job there. Thanks for the memberberries.
What was your route for the 4K descent? Was Dog River part of that? There used to be a barb wire fence at one of the switchbacks - don’t ask how I know…
If you’re still in OR make sure you get to Black Rock
Have I finally figured out how to upload photos?
Sunset lap on Doctor. Turned light on for the last 1/2 mile. Super quiet, had the trail to myself.

Rode Saalbach's 'Big 5' tour on Friday. Even repeating one trail twice I 'only' got 4700m of descent rather than the claimed 5000m, but a fun day nonetheless!
Next time I would do a 'Big 4' version to spend more time on the fun trails than the annoying Wurzltrail connecting Saalbach and Leogang though. Too much time going across rather than down when you've paid for a lift pass. Maybe it's fun when it's dry, but I'm pretty sure the Panorama and Hacklberg trails will always be more fun!
Wurzltrail over to Leogang was pretty wet and slippy:
Steinbergline down to Leogang was similary wet, but a lot more fun. I quickly learnt to keep my mouth closed against the flying mud though
Much drier on the Saalbach and Hinterglemm areas. Panorama trail was so much fun, and I was way faster than my last trip. Hacklberg trail is as good as everyone says too - it feels like a really perfect mix of shaped berms in the corners, but natural and rocky everywhere else. I didn't stop for many photos and hard to do it justice with a phone, but:
Really fun to ride the whole area, and cover a lot of ground while connecting all the different parts of the valley. Definitely feels like a lot of travel. But yeah, my top tip for Saalbach: more time on Panorama and Hacklberg, less time on Wurzltrail and Saalbach/Leogang connection ;-)

I thought the MRT was cool mainly due to the scenery, extra vegetation (coming from CO) and better quality dirt than back home. The section around Trail Bridge had a few ruts but otherwise it was in pretty good shape. When I rode it it wasn't tacky but still nice consistent dirt which is much better than I'm used to.

Love that trail! Makes me think of the late great Tone Capone.
