Go forth and ride, then bring back pics

Got a great tour of Charlottesville trails from bagtagley this morning. We’ve both been around here for a long time and know a bunch of same people, but never met until today. Great mix of techy roots/rocks and flow trails. Unfortunate end of life for his chainring (in a way neither of us have ever seen before) but pretty close to the truck for relative east coast down

Simultaneously improves and impairs chain line each revolution. Impressive!

They call this trail Little Moab. It's a bit of limestone slickrock. Kid liked it, wife not so much.

Pre-work rip up high, and the Friday Night Bikes ride from the shop in the Gulch conveniently ended at the opening of the new Anarchy Brewing. Solid day.

I only made it to the junction before turning back. Was on a bit of time crunch and there were 20+ downed trees(only a couple that were handsaw size)and the mosquitos were off the charts. Did have a huge owl fly out 10ft in front of me which was super cool. I really need to explore more around here as I mostly rode SW MT before we moved.

DH race weekend in Brianhead. Pimp campsite, fun trails, fishing, rad hiking through bristlecones, hard to ask for better. Brianhead DH trails are mostly steep loose rocks between large embedded rocks and the kiddo is scary fast through the gnar on 24s.

Took last Wednesday off work as I'd worked too much (covering Crankworx ironically, also a pretty epic show!) the week before, and thought I'd go and try the Bikerepublic Sölden bikepark out as lifts should make it much more relaxing... WRONG!

Really fun day out, but I actually found all the downhill way more exhausting then pedalling all the way up and just one descent. Somehow much more physical I guess, with all the rocks and braking bumps?

The bikepark itself is really cool though. I've never actually skied there, only in Obergurgl further up the valley, so it was cool to see more of the area. I only rode the blue trails, but even those were really long, ~900 vert metres and 7km+ per uplift. Personally I preferred the Giggijoch side, where you can link the Harbe line, Gahe line and Lettn line into one loooong blue trail. Starting out at ~2300m feels like decently high alpine terrain, and the the trail winds across steeper slopes. It's also noticeably colder and windier up there, and as a noobie the combination got my the nerves going a bit the first time! But then as the trail winds down and into the forests it gets faster, rowdier with berms, bumps and rollers, and just more and more fun. Plus a few cows to dodge here and there haha!

No photos of lower down as it was too fun to stop, but here a few from the start of a couple of trails. Views pretty ok!

Out for a rip with the boys down by Creede on some friends private trails. I felt like a sack of shit trying to follow a 3x Olympian on his 21lb bike with a 36T on the front up the climb Click image for larger version.

Out early with the temps, nice and breezy today!

Riding buddy of mine was on the trail 15 minutes in from of me spotted a cougar, I saw movement in the same part but assumed either a deer or coyote!

    Rad!! Freaking love big cats!
