^^^Excellent. Maybe meet up with you again this summer? No job, a bit more flexible these days...
Life is tough. It's tougher when you're stupid
Sure, come on up. Wait 'til it rains though, it's miserably dry and dusty. 2" of moon dust on some trails.
No job? Wha happa?
I went up to Sun Valley this weekend for their Enduro race. I didn't race but had a really good time. I was busy riding and fishing so the camera didn't come out too much but I snapped some pics of the pump track challenge which was really entertaining.

I wear crocs for the style, not the comfort.
Doh! Yep, looking at the little bit of landing in the pic, yep. I've only done Covenant a couple times, last year. It's...big... for my XCtrailslowspeedtechytrialsyrockcrawling self. Anthem actually was way easier for me to do, in terms of mind fuck, but the landing is crappier.
I'll stick with the Porch and the Flume.![]()
Though rode and very much liked some of the chunkier old-school trails today, that I'd not been on before. Stalker and Legion - liked a lot! Utah, Asylum, Slayer and Evil Bob are favorites as well.
Florence Nightingale's Stormtrooper
Yeah theyve got some good gnar tech out there if you know where to look. USO is crazy too. I think pipeline is the smoothest drop out there (little drop next to covenant) but flume is also fun. Im going to be offf drops for a while...broke my collarbone on one at highland this weekend so my mind will probably be fucked for a while.

Ouch. Sucks, but heal well.
Those big ones always give me pause. Crossed Covenant and the Pipe off my list last year, good enough for me. The cannon thing after Covenant scares me silly. I'm fine sticking with the smaller ones, and mostly riding the chunky trails is my preference anyhow. Drops aren't my forte by any stretch.
Florence Nightingale's Stormtrooper
Ten of us pushed our bikes 7,000 feet up a mountain last weekend and then rode back down. Here's a few pics from the descent:

I spent the 4th of July riding on Vancouver Island (in Cumberland) and Hornby island.

what's the riding like out there? worth a trip?
It'd good. It depends what you are looking for. If you like technical riding in a pretty untrammeled and down-to-earth area then yes. Some of the trails reminded me of Comfortably Numb in Whistler, but less ridden/finished and with more downhill sections. The vertical drop tends to be in the 1,000-1,700' range. Lots of loam. Some of the trails are out in the clear-cut and probably ride best in the spring. It's all low elevation. Other trails had swampy sections and were just drying out. It seems like a year-round riding area for the locals out there.
Bellingham Solstice ride. Bbq, bacon, beer, bourbon, bikes, success
Ikkin finally rode Squamish.
I had a bachelor party in Winthrop (sorry ladies). The trail lived up to it's name...
Before the weather got ugly it was nice
Ikkin's ball and chain trying to stay dry. Pointless
There was no rainbow after the thunder, but the views were still ok
This is how you ride dh bikes. Earn your damn turns (disclaimer: we still shuttled before this...)
Worth it

crab in my shoe mouth
This trail is pretty much in my back yard in Silver Plume, so I ride it a lot. The climb is an old railroad grade, so not super steep, and only 3 miles. The downhill cuts off two of the switchbacks, is steeper, and a mile shorter. Flowy and fun as hell, and no one seems to have figured out there's a more fun way to go down than the way you come up. Oh well, their loss...
I must have seen someone post something similar of a dog chasing a mountain bike, which put the idea in my head to make this video. I worked the dog up to this gradually so his pads wouldn't get shredded, and I probably worried unnecessarily about a mountain lion snatching him when I wasn't paying attention, but he made it through just fine, and now I have video evidence of his radness! Enjoy!
