Those aren't 26" wheels up there ^^. I need to ride some of that Western mileage someday.

Hope you'll forgive a little gushing; this is getting to be one of my favorite trails. Up kinda high in the Cabinets, great views and a pretty reliable trail for what it is: periodic scree, some HAB, and too steep to avoid erosion, but views and ridgetops for days. These were last week, before the smoke arrived.

67's been calling me back ever since a cancer diagnosis last fall, so 7 rounds later this was half celebration and half test. We would have liked to go further (there's another 9 miles to reach a trail back down to a road) but with a tube in my side I felt really fortunate to be able to go out and back between the highest peaks on the route and plan a longer "next time."

Despite lots of traffic on the forest roads, we saw exactly one other human on the trail--nice hiker complaining of bad knees and unsure if he'd be able to keep coming up top. Full squish FTW! Some views required a hike:

Great ride all the way to the end--as long as you can stay on your bike, anyway.

The whole "no smoke in Big Sky" thing didn't last long, but still a good ride on Little Wapiti

heading up to whistler but got the call that I shouldn't rush up there because of the smoke so I detoured and checked out the Cascades. Seems like the area around Twisp has some good adventure ride potential.

Nice. Twisp is in my backyard, but I haven't done any riding in that area yet. How were the mosquitos?

Not that bad really. The horse flies were worse but neither really detracted from the ride. The lake was surprisingly warm and made for some nice swimming at the top of the hike-a-bike section.

How's the skiing out there in the winter? Not sure how much of those mountains you can access but it looked like there is some rad skiing on the eastern side of hwy 20.

You need a sled to access most of the good skiing near WA pass. We did do some spring touring this year after the road opened.

This, but it's a long season after the RT 20 road is plowed, and you'll get a couple powder days even typically. Also, it's a loooooong slog to get to ski in the Foggy Dew/Sunrise Lake area.

Yeah, I wasn't so much thinking that location but some of those shots right off the road look like they could be a good time.

It's really a see-it and ski-it kinda place. You can PM me for details when it's time.

    Rode down South...and up North!

It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

Old pic. And wrong season, I know...

Testing out amazon web services S3 for pic hosting. Works easy enough, and seems cheap.

Rides lately have mostly been at sunrise or sunset to avoid the heat. But since I don't really get up early, mostly sunset...
