Trail work yesterday morning



Spent the whole day working on that berm and the drop leading into it. Sam had his bike with and made sure it was riding well.

Then went on a good ride. Trails are so nice right now, although a little wet in some places. Every fall it's like you get a whole new set of trails after it rains a bit.

After hitting a deer in CO my truck is in the shop so ride options are limited. Hit up a demo event yesterday taking the moto to get there. Today I rode from home, a big loop around San Diego hitting a bunch of different trail systems that I do maybe once a year. Beach to the mountains and back... Great day on the bike!

9mi one way, 1700 vert round trip. Goes pretty quick, has some steep/rocky/tricky sections.

Nice pictures all around, this is such a cool thread. What kind of lamps are people using for riding at night? Tried once with my normal headlamp, results were not so great.

St Regis river trail ain't bad.

For years I've been trying to get together a float / ride on that trail: ride from the north / east end into St. Regis with (deflated) inner tubes in pack. Inflate tubes and buy beer in town. Leave bikes locked somewhere discrete. Float back to car.

Seth - the north / east end of the trail starts under a bridge crossing the Clark Fork on Hwy 135, ~7 miles from St. Regis. There's a little beach there with a parking lot - it's pretty easy to find. Once you're on the trail, it's easy to follow. The other end of the trail (near St. Regis) starts on the "southside cutoff" road.

Convinced the man friend to go for a longer ride before the first big snowfall. Some flurries up high, kinda grey but kinda pretty anyway. We carried for the bikes for a bit. Is there a way to do this that is not completely awkward?

Was quite wet and muddy in the lower sections. I was sliding around a lot, I'm sure mainly because I brake too much but I suppose better tires would help some? Glad we made this happen, it's snowing to the valley now. Also glad none of the bruises I collected are on my shins. Ski boots here I come

Pretty straightforward, we parked at the boat ramp on the downstream side farthest from st regis.

I think I liked it in the first direction (upstream) better. Even though you are generally going a little bit uphill there seemed to be better descending that way. It goes pretty quickly so you might as well just go to one end and ride both ways.

We tried to go to quinn's hot springs after but it was an hour and a half wait to go in the pools. Also it's fairly expensive if you want to eat or stay there.


There is some other riding in the area, up on the reservation or ninemile divide, above st regis, and off the stateline, so you could do more than just the one ride if you were in the area. A few years ago a group of us went out there for a weekend and did some rides around there. Some of the stuff off the stateline ended up not really being trail anymore but a couple were good. Storm peak trail out by taft (more of a shuttle ride), boyd mtn trail in st regis, and the pearl/heart lake loop off hoodoo pass are all good.

I prefer the before conditions. Looks like that section of trail was wearing into a nice 1 foot wide singletrack and the leaves would have gotten beat to soil soon enough. Don't get me wrong I am a believer in blowing but in moderation.
