    Ebay Sniper Tools

Anybody have any experience with auction sniper tools? Theres a board that I want to bid on but I'm going to be at work when it expires.

Any experiences (good or bad) tips, recommendations, etc. would be great, but specifically this is what I'm looking for:

No fee to join (am willing to pay a percentage of winning bid)
    Reliable
If I put in my max bid I want to win it for the minimum, not my max bid (the same way it works if I'm bidding on ebay myself)

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks!

You can set up a max bid in Ebay and the system will bid for you, just enough to put you on top. This and a email alert and you're all set.
Actualy, that's a safer option IMO than bidding yourself. You're not tempted to over shoot your budget in the last minutes of the auction...

I've never had AuctionSniper fail me, and it meets your criteria.

PM me your email address, and I'll send you a referral, which gets both of us free snipes.

Yes, but then you assume all ebayers are firm on their price. If you do this, someone places a bid, see that you outbid them, and maybe they'll up their bid until they have the high bid all the time thinking that $5 extra might do it. If you put in your bid with seconds left, they will not have time to do that, but of course any automated bidding higher than your high bid will always beat you.

Right. Check a few bid histories that have a lot of bids. Usually you'll see one or two people who have bid many times, often one right after the other.

Sniping is the way to go. Figure out how much you want to pay at most, leave no one else the opportunity to react to you, then live with whatever happens.

Note: You can't snipe dutch auctions for multiple items to get a lower price based on eBay dutch auction rules.

I use esnipe and prepay for $15 whenever I need it.

I have told AuctionSniper to send invitations to Big-In-Japan, philippeR, Daywalker, and woodstocksez. Let me know if they don't get to you.

I've used eSnipe a bunch of times. It works great and is very easy. You can adjust the buffer before the end of the auction and its never failed me.

In any case, if you're ever really in this situation make sure you at least bargain in a couple of fluffers.

I forgot to mention that one good thing about AuctionSniper is auction "groups." If there are multiple auctions for bindings, and you need a total of two pair, you can group the various snipes together (including at different prices) and tell AuctionSniper to stop when you have two.

One thing also to remember is the firm maximum you place on an item can be shot down for pennies (depending on the value). If you would pay $20 for an Item would you really not also pay $20.50 for that same item? Yet if you bid a max of $20 and you get outbid with the automatic bids placed, you are done unless you are near and can up the bid. With the sniping software or services that are good you can say $20 and a percentage over the $20.

I've been chased down when bidding early for a watched item more times than if I can be around for the last minute of activity and bid late. Also sniping software will handle the last second bid that goes in just after the close of the item (because you have to go higher and run out of time with a frenzy of last second activity.)

I'd expect more from you than this kind of reasoning You set your max bid, and that's your max bid no matter what. If the sniper software can add a certain percentage to your max, so can you. Just set the max and be ready to be outbid by 50 cents. If you are willing to pay $20.50, set that as your max, not $20. And then just place your bid with 5 seconds left.

Rune -- you still do the same max bid, it just gets placed a certain amount of time before the auction. Think of it as playing your cards close to the vest rather than showing them.

Yeah, I see the advantage if you can't be in front of the computer at the right time to place the bid yourself. But the chance of being outbid by 50 cents is always there.

Sure. But the chance of being outbid by a guy who sees you bid $X.00, then beats you by $.50 at the last moment based on that information, goes away.

But he doesn't have time to see and react to that if I place my bid with 5 seconds left like I usually do. I'm my own personal ebay sniper tool
