Dynafit compatible Endorphin in the works

Maybe this is old hat to insiders but Garmont is making a Dynafit compatible Endorphin. I wasn't able to squeeze any more information out of the guy I talked to. This would be a major improvement to any of the current Dynafit compatible boots. Does anyone have more concrete information specifically the planned time of release? If you don't want to post in the forum, I will keep any information shared over PMs confidential.

Soooooo you're telling me that I shouldn't order the MegaRides at a sweet discount and I should instead wait to order these at same sick discount. OK, but I would really like to know how long I have to wait cause I'm getting real tired of touring in Solomon's.

wasn't there talk of scarpa's exclusive licensing agreement running out in 08? or something something out in 08? If that's true, my guess is a retail release mid-season at the earliest. I'm guessing it'll be a bunch longer for those not in the loop.

prolly won't be any deals given out

info I've managed to score says limited release US and Canada and you're gonna be lucky to snag a pair, and you've got a better chance to see a third term for W then to snag a discount(at least this year)
For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

Scarpa has no exclusive on Dynafit Compatible boots. Many Garmont boots have had the tech fittings for years. Its my understanding that Lowa could offer a Dynafit compatible boot if they wanted, but they thought doing so would support the compitition. Most companies are happy to bring on new licensees

Cool to see that Garmont is doing this with the Adrenalin... unfortunatly Garmonts dont fit my foot either.

"Interesting factoid: Many Dynafit binding fans have wondered why the boot fittings are not available in more than two other brands of boots. You’ll hear all sorts of myths about this, including sales babble that the “fittings are too expensive,” or “we don’t want to support our competitor’s binding.” The truth is that when Scarpa was licensed as the first outside company to use the boot fittings, Scarpa negotiated the contractual stipulation that the fitting would only be licensed to one other boot maker (Garmont). At this point it would no doubt be better for everyone if any boot maker could sell boots with Dynafit fittings, but Garmont and Scarpa will of course hold on to their exclusive until the agreement expires in 2008. Bottom line: don’t look for new brands of Dynafit compatible boots until 2008. (Thus, the new line of backcountry ski boots that Black Diamond is working on could indeed be Dynafit compatible.)"

Expert Insight?? Is that what you provide? It was also on Lou's site that I read his comment about Lowa not wanting to support the competition. Who really knows for sure.... The Shadow Knows!

I just came across this on Backcountryworld... Lou posted this yesterday. The decision to not support the competition was presumably made when the original 2 licenses were offered??

problem is with the dollar shitting the bed its going to continue to get more expensive for stuff made in Euroland(like boots)

Bernake will probably give the rate a 1/2 point cut next week

Maybe a bit on the side, but this might be pretty sweet as well:

NTN tele, normal rando and dynafits in one boot.

Bingo... I'm waiting for Garmonts offering, or that Crispi puts dynafit-inserts on their NTN Evo... And that Marker comes out w/ a Jester using Dukes toeheight adjustment... That would mean I can get rid of 2 different pairs of boots and only use the Crispi/Garmont NTNs.

this might be a really dumb question, but wouldn't the bellows significantly fuck up the boot's flex with the heel is locked down?

    Yes.

    1) you have to block the forefoot with a shim, depending on the binding, to keep the boot sole from flexing down.

    2) I tend to agree that you give up a lot of performance as well with the flexi bellows. But, this is a softer 3 buckle boot anyways.

Field reports of this setup in dynafits have been good so far (i.e. it works) but I don't think anyone is claiming it will replace super hard core AT boots.

For me, I will get them in a year or two. The way I see it, I will have an NTN setup for those few times I tele, and a nice lighter weight soft Dynafit setup as a bonus.
For travel, it would be extra sick since one boot and two pair of skis is tele and AT at once. I tend not to travel with tele anymore since I need to bring 2 boots and 2 skis.

The way I look at it you could have 2 pairs of boots

Term-X for NTN, mellow lap skiing, spring corn, or hut to hut tours

Axon for inbounds charging or burly touring

if marker built the jester with a movable AFD I'd be all over it

I've got to see if I can find a new pair of 914's to see if the toe height/moving AFD would accomplish the same thing
