Keep an eye on the snow reports later this week. We could be in for one of those tasty front range storms that make Nakiska, Fortress or Castle the place to be.

Synopsis: sunny most of tomorrow, spring snow storm coming Thursday…
A clear night forecast for the Rockies as high pressure moves off to the east overnight and early Wednesday morning. Temperatures will dip just below the freezing point at the base, with upper elevations remaining several degrees cooler. Under sunny skies Wednesday, expect to see daytime highs reach double digits at the base, declining to near freezing at mountain top. Later Wednesday, we’ll see clouds move in both from the north and from the west. Cooler artic air moving southwards and pacific moisture moving in from the west will collide over central and southern Alberta Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. The computer models are suggesting 10+ mm of water equivalent centered just to the southeast of Jasper in the 12 hour period ending Thursday morning, with more to follow during the day, primarily along the east slopes of the front ranges from central Alberta southwards. We’ll be watching the western edge of this system and expect it to bring 10-20+ cm along the front ranges with amounts diminishing towards, and west of the continental divide. After this system passes, a break between systems occurs Friday and Saturday. This afternoon’s long range forecast shows another spring storm hitting southern Alberta later Sunday and Monday.
