    Widest Flexon type boot?

I've been (not so seriously) looking for a pair of flexons for a while, and tried some Krypton Cross and Krypton Pros on this weekend. They're way too narrow. Anybody know which version/vintage I might want to seek out with the widest possible forefoot and narrowest heel channel? I know there were a couple versions of Line, Kniessl, full tilt, etc... Just wondering if there's any considerable difference between them all or if I should be looking for something completely different?

The vintage being sold in this thread: http://tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95486
was the widest I've ever tried (Flexon Comp Slalom). I think the Krypton is a little wider than the Flexon (Raichle, Kneissl, Full Tilt all exactly the same), or at least felt wider when I was trying them on last week....

If the Krypton is too narrow then you won't get into a Flexon-T (the Flexon model now being made by Full Tilt but previously by Kneissl and Raichle).

You want a set of Daleboots. If the Kryptons are too narrow, no Flexon variant will even come close.

krypton is going to be as wide as it gets for an off the shelf style of this boot. Try a shell fit and see where your contact points are. In the stock id liner before heating and stock footbed, the boot fit not so well. With a thermoflex and a small punch at the ball of my foot...perfectimo. mine fit closer to a 99-100 mm last now. Some days I'd spend 10 hrs in them and no foot issues. that being said, if you need a 102mm last boot or more, these will not work for you. Out of the box they are 98mm but with some massaging fit a bit wider.

nordica beast 12s worked for me with some punching and it sounds like we have a similar foot. Might be worth looking into. I only tried flexons once and they were waaaaay off.

Shame the cuff/ankle are what I want. Anyone made a fraken boot out of flexons/kryptons and some other foot pocket? I imagine it would be hard to do with the whole tongue and buckle setup.

Good stuff here. I'm going to bring my Intuitions and footbeds back for to the store for another try with the proper socks and see where I'm at. I think I lknow a consignment store that has a pair of 11 Flexons I might check out too. Maybe pick them up and mess around with the fit a bit. I'd feel a lot better taking a torch and die grinder to a $100 boot before a $500 pair.

I have a C width and my Krypton Pros w/ID liners seem to fit great after baking. Only skiing them will tell but I am currently wearing them as I do for hours everyday. No complaints.

I have also skied in the Flexons late last year and had to remove my footbed and ski them without anything to get any level of acceptable comfort

I have a D width foot (100mm) and my problem has always been with the flexon style cuff. After about 30 minutes in either a flexon or krypton, I get a dull ache on the outside of my calf that doesn't go away (cuff was aligned properly). That's why the low cuff, slightly wider, flexon slalom worked for me so well...Of all the boots I've tried on this year so far, it's going to be between the Salomon Impact 10 and the Tecnica Diablo Magma.....I really wish I fit a flexon/krypton though....

I have a D width foot, but high calves. I've never had a cuff problem, just shin bang. Booster straps have helped immensely, but I think a Flexon type boot will really help take it to the next level if I can get one to fit.

I'm pretty much a d width and with the aformetioned work my kryptons fit very well. I had flexons for a week. They just would not work for me. The shell material of the krypton responds very well to punching/grinding. I took em to my bootfitter and 40min later was ready to rock.

    daleboot, daleboot, daleboot.

Unless you like stiff boots -- but then you shouldn't be looking at 3-piece boots anyway.

D bordering on E width forefoot here, very painful experience trying to shove my foot into a Flexon. I second the Beast/Supercharger Ignition recs for a good fit if you've got the wide forefoot.

I want something moderately stiff, but not all out race room type. I've been in 120 Head 103's for a couple years now. I like their stiffness. Something comparable would be just fine. I think I'm going to give daleboot a visit when I make my annual Alta pilgrimmage this year. What is the average price range and turnaround time?

Turnaround time = you walk out of the shop with boots. It'll take an hour or two to get fitted, and it's recommended to call a day or two ahead to reserve time in case it's busy when you come by. Price = check the website, but I think about $600. It includes thermo liners, initial bootfitting, and free fit adjustments for life. I've come in a few times to get work done, blown rivets fixed, etc.

Also check to see if they have any blem/demo shells in your size when you call, which will save you money.

If you're used to 120 Heads, they will be a lot softer, perhaps too soft for you. (Think AT boot, both in flex and weight...they're light.) This is what happened to Dantheman...too soft for him. But they have a very lenient return policy, so if you try skiing a day or two and just can't deal, they'll take them back.

My feet are all sorts of fucked up and they fit fine into a Krypton pro. I really thingk that a good arch support footbead helps a lot. There is definately a difference between having normally wide feet and having wide feet because you have high arches and no support.

I wear a size 12-13 shoe, and have a 108mm wide foot. I managed to squeeze my feet into 28.0 krypton pro ID's. I started out with a half finger shell fit and my foot touched both sides of the shell without the liner in. I am a bootfitter, though, and spent every spare moment during three days of work punching and grinding until they fit like a dream. Kryptons have very thick shells that respond well to grinding, but take a lot of time to punch properly. Find a good fitter. If you want to be in that boot, take the time and the two of you will make it happen.

I actually found a pair (TFTs) and they're wide enough. I cooked up my intuitions and tried them out. I think they're going to work out alright. I would like to find another set of tongues to play around with though. The ones that came on these boots are stiff as a board - like NO flex. I need to find the piece that connects the tongue to the boot too. I broke one while fitting these things if anyone can be of help. I also posted in Gear Swap.
