    First shoot with 580EX II

Pretty much straight out of the camera. No RAW developing, just a slight crop and save for web.

Just shot with one about 2 weeks ago...it's got range!

Are you bouncing or defusing with low power in that shot? Or both.

Both, there was decent natural light so I had the sto-fen omni bounce on and shot over my shoulder. The walls and ceiling ranged from white to about 18% grey so it made white balancing pretty much a non issue. I'm pretty impressed with this flash.

It looks like window light was the main source, and the 580 filled the shadows on the right side of face. Nice.

How does it compare with the 430ex? Similar performance to the 580ex mkI with a faster recycle?

I like the shot--a very serious baby.
