Well Verbier Freeride has usually been on Mt. Gele, provided the avy-conditions allow it... 2 years ago, that was not the case but that doesn't change the fact that Mt. Gele W-face (ie. towards the top of Attelas-funi...?) was supposed to be the venue...

wowwww Conclusion, in higher elevations fo Alps snows A LOT, in the same numbers as North american snowiest resorts.
Snowhead, I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to say in this thread but it sounds like you are comparing snowfalls between the Alps and North America. I am not a meteorologist but can only speak from firsthand experience after having lived in Tahoe for several years, skied throughout the Alps and North America over many seasons, and am now living in central Switzerland. From what I have seen, the Alps get nowhere near the amount of snowfall that North America does. I'm not saying this is good or bad, it's just what I have observed.

Also, your precipitation maps on page 4 of this thread seem to show yearly precipitation not just snowfall. In Tahoe, it rarely rains (a few afternoon thunderstorms in the summer and a bit in the spring and fall) but in a normal year, it snows a ton. Likewise for Utah. On the other hand, here in central Switzerland, it rains ALL the time. And during the winter, we get a FEW good dumps per winter but mostly it's a few cm's every few days. In Tahoe, in a normal year, we got MANY good dumps throughout the season. I guess all I am saying is that yearly precipitation says nothing about snowfall.

Regarding Verbier, yes, it is good

Xmas. Everyone should go there at xmas.

FYI: Even when the Verbier ride was on Jelly not only did the competitors have to climb up but the camera crew as well.

Besides. Anyone in the area knows that Chamonix is the place to go.

mont fort is good. mont gele is closed. les attelas would be really good but lack a bit of vert. apart from that there is endless terrain to cruise around but not very technical.

so all in all, it's good and within the top 10 bigger european freeride resorts.

the freeride section of the verbier ride has been on the WNW side of mont gelè for some years... but after a clash with televerbier about the use of the mt gelè lift, the organizer decided to cancel the freeride event (the last one was done with many injuries on the attelais couloirs) and to reduce the event to a freestyle one
