Snowhead, I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to say in this thread but it sounds like you are comparing snowfalls between the Alps and North America. I am not a meteorologist but can only speak from firsthand experience after having lived in Tahoe for several years, skied throughout the Alps and North America over many seasons, and am now living in central Switzerland. From what I have seen, the Alps get nowhere near the amount of snowfall that North America does. I'm not saying this is good or bad, it's just what I have observed.
Also, your precipitation maps on page 4 of this thread seem to show yearly precipitation not just snowfall. In Tahoe, it rarely rains (a few afternoon thunderstorms in the summer and a bit in the spring and fall) but in a normal year, it snows a ton. Likewise for Utah. On the other hand, here in central Switzerland, it rains ALL the time. And during the winter, we get a FEW good dumps per winter but mostly it's a few cm's every few days. In Tahoe, in a normal year, we got MANY good dumps throughout the season. I guess all I am saying is that yearly precipitation says nothing about snowfall.
Regarding Verbier, yes, it is good
