    Question Skins for Praxis?

Well since the Praxis boards are confirmed to arrive in the next couple of weeks and the Dukes the same, I have been starting to think about the skins these skis need.

I don't plan on doing large hikes with them, more likely slack country and traverses. I did some basic searching, but there doesn't seem to be much talk on this one other then the climbingskinsdirect.com . But after going to their site, it looks like they won't ship a single pair to Canada. They would if I could buy a bunch.

I know that their are a few out there that are doing the same as me and I am curious what others have thought of doing?

    Recomendations?

I'm wondering the same thing. Currently my Praxis have 977 on them. After thinking about it, I'm thinking I should put the Dukes on the Praxis, get some skins and put the 977 on my XXLs...

For the record, I have toured with my Praxis (w/trekkers...ugh) and they worked pretty well. The only problem I had was I was using a pair of skins cut for my Scratch BCs so the skins were too narrow under foot (where you most need them) so I'd have some problems sliding backwards while skinning in an old track.

When i was breaking trail it was pretty good. You could motor....and when you do get to the top....Holy shit is it fun.

My Praxis won't be seeing the skintrack, but if they were I'd trim some 130 mm BD clipfix ascensions to fit. At 136 underfoot, the 3mm on either side of the skin would allow the ski to get some edge bite but still have plenty of coverage for climbing.

Seconded. I did this for my 138s and worked well. With all that surface area underfoot you'll be amazed at the grip you get on steeper climbs.

Okay, I've heard good things about Ascensions, sounds like the plan. I found some at MEC for $155, anybody have a better lead? Maybe I'll check REI, I think I have a coupon here somewhere...

edit, nope just checked, up to 120mm only and $10 more plus shipping. Mybe if I am lucky SAC will pop up soon, hey anything can happen!
