    Ready For Winter

Finally, after a 12 months, I have both aerial platforms set up and working how I want them to.

360 degree panning camera mount, 20 minute flight times, air speeds from 15-30mph, flight range of about 1/2 mile. Gyro stabilized camera mount. Launches in 15 feet on skis. Works great at 11,000ft. Functional in 10-15mph winds. 13 pounds flying weight.

180 degree panning, 7 minute flight times, air speeds of 0-40mph or so, flight range 400 feet visually. Infrared stabilized. Functional in 15mph winds. 11 pound flying weight. Works well at 11,000ft, haven't gone higher yet.

The camera mount on both will also double as a cable cam mount.

    How about
Something about the wrinkle in your forehead tells me there's a fit about to get thrown
And I never hear a single word you say when you tell me not to have my fun
It's the same old shit that I ain't gonna take off anyone.
and I never had a shortage of people tryin' to warn me about the dangers I pose to myself.

You are the fucking man! This project of yours interests the geek and the skier in me (if only I were a photog), so I'm eagerly anticipating your TR's this season. Hell, I would probably donate to see them!

Does it relay some kind of picture to a monitor so you can tell what the camera is pointing/zoom/pan at? (Maybe you've aswered this somewhere else). or how do you deal with that part?

I'm also impressed the copter is faster than the plane.

Yes, the image from the camera is relayed via 2.4ghz to a 7" lcd monitor. The camera gimbal is operated by a second person.

The fixed wing flys by itself, so I can operate the camera and fly it, sort of.

looks neat, but that AVCHD format is a real pain in the ass.

But 1440 x 1080 at 60fps could be interesting, or is that fields per sec?

Thumbs up This so freakin cool.

Looking forward to seeing what you are able to do with these two setups this winter.

Very cool; I just got an Panasonic HVX200 for work - with two 8 gb P2 cards and a 60gb P2 store - the thing is amazing.

Shooting at 100mb/sec runs through the cards pretty quick (!) but the video is unreal.
