The ocean in South Florida is so full of life it's freaky.
Small but surfable (barely) windswell hit this week so I was out a few days and today. There was so much bait in the water each day I wondered if I was gonna make it out with all my toes.
Tuesday I got marauded by a bunch of jumping baitfish while cresting a wave. They landed on my head, my back, and my board. And today I popped up after a wipeout, turned to grab my board and a pile of Pilchards took flight, 5 of them landing on my board.
I fish down here, too and know there are snook, mackeral, even sharks and now bluefish in the water with 'em. Chances of getting bit are next to nothing, but it's still freaky when you've seen 4-foot fish pulled from inside the lineup.
Supposed to be tiny but rideable most of this week. Hope I don't get tasted.
