    Big Trips

Who has big trips already planned for this ski season?

Who has any suggestions for a $1k trip that would be epic (figuring a few hundy to get there)? Maybe stretch it to 800 to ski or something...

I have an itch to try a trip to BC or somewhere in the PNW... a week in Tahoe to check out someplace that isn't flat perhaps.

If you head to Tahoe - look into Kirkwood.

When my sister and friends visit out here they like to stay in South Lake. A few days at Kirkwood, a day at Sierra, Heavenly and if the driving is good - Squaw or Alpine. Not a bad schedule.

Or Kicking Horse, Big Sky, Whistler?

the big trip is austria in january (snow's gotta be better this year). looking forward to seeing if all the running this summer will allow me to keep up a little better on the touring.

but prior to that, i am planning on road trippin' to crystal in early december for at least a week.... hopefully 2... with a possible side trip N to baker and possibly hurricane ridge.

other than that, i think i'll ski a bunch at home (steamboat) and maybe try to chase a storm or two in utah on my days off.

i haven't been this excited for ski season in quite awhile.

Option 1: Run your diesel truck on veg oil, hookup your fifthwheel toyhauler loaded with a few 800 REV's. go to Costco and stock up on food. Brew several batches of your favorite bubbly, store in 5gal keg until taptime. Follow the snow for a month with little to no overhead (other than the light fluffy frozen water going over your head).

    Option 2: Hadiko, Japan

    Option 3: Gulmarg, India

Option 4: Tour everything in your backyard that you ever said you wanted to hit.

Get to Tahoe on a 2-3 storm cycle. K-weed is outstanding. Ottime is right on the money. Get to the casino's and rip the tables and your trip will be free.

Dude, you haven't even skied any of the local stuff yet!

Wait and see who's having a good season. Keep you options open and when a dry spell hits, road trip it. Never leave good snow to find good snow.

do you want to spend the 1K in a day (heli)
in a week? (on hill or touring trip)
or in a month (pass, and live in a truck in a parking lot)

nine days of hassling big brown trout on the missouri river with my little brother. i am so fkn stoked for this trip right now im not even thinking about skiing yet.

I'll probably do a trip up to BC, maybe WH20 again or Red.
And my trip with dad in the spring. not sure where we are going to go this time. he insists on skiing one area he has never been before every trip. and we have covered just about everything in driving distance that i feel like skiing (great divide, showdown, bear paw, teton pass ski area are about all that is left). it's hard for me and dad to find areas to keep us both interested.

Jackson, Snowbird, and possibly Alyeska if I can figure out how to pay for my wedding next July, and still swing it. Aspen, SUCO (every weekend), and Crested Butte for the worlds.

I'll be at Mustang and Chatter from 12/27-1/5.

Other than that, I am counting my blessings that I live close to hood, crystal, bachy. And have a season pass on hood and a bunch of vouchers for crystal.

Spring break, late march, either a week in ooootah or up to Red and Whitewater for some spring skiing.

Hope to have plenty of pow here in the basin to ski this year,
trips planned are storm chasing to utah at some point, crash at my cousin's and he can get us free lift tickets... also hope to hit up the vegas ski show this year, hopefully with captain powder, and ski the resort near vegas, maybe try and hit up the x games and/or the powder video awards in aspen as well..........
a trip up the coast to Seattle and baker/crystal, etc, is on the horizon as well...maybe this year, maybe next, we'll see.
I've skied alta, whister, all over tahoe and the sierras....jackson hole is without a doubt a top place in north america on my must-ski list. but i'll
    wait for the tram.

On lock is Big Sky Jan 6th-11th with the club. But I found out my classes don't start until 22nd so I'm going to try and stay out the next week. Either go where it's good, or go to Summit and see my brother at Breck.

My suggestion would be to sit on the $1K and wait. There will be an "epic" storm this winter, there always is, it's just not a guarantee when and where. Be ready. When it hits, take your money and jump in the car and follow. See how far you can strech the money, living in your car, cheap motels, cheap beer. That would be my ideal trip. Live by the seat of your pants for a week or 10 days.

Wanna go 3 ways on it? Once you get past a ten strip it's all the same till you get to a print anyways...

I don't think I'm gonna be taking any big ski trips this winter. I'm saving my bread for to go backpacking in Europe with my lady this summer.

I'll definitely do some Adderall fueled weekend storm chasing where the time driving = time on the slopes.
