Maybe they will put these cable cars in the terrain park like they did with the others

I wouldent cancel a trip just because the tram is still down. That mountain is epic. My freshman year was the last year for the tram, I went last year without it, and im going again this year, with out it. The tram is a convenience to get to the top quickly, its not necessary to ski any more of the terrain out there

err.. what am I saying? Jackson sucks and you should never go there, its flat and they get no snow. Leave us wierdo's to go ski it

The old Tram had a good life! I had the pleasure of riding it during it's first winter of ops.

I had many memorable experiences up "THERE"!
I got to see the cabin replacement back in '89...

The Summit is always an amazing place!

The new Tram will be absolutely AWESOME!

I'm pretty sure he took that pic.

My first Western resort, and it holds a special place in my heart. I am going to try to hit it this year, while friends are still living there. Should be a different vibe. The things I loved about the tram also pissed me off. Anybody can ride it, and anybody can side slip the top into a sheet of ice, just to say they did it. Something to be said for the Ho's and Sublette being tough to get to.

As a previous poster said, "What are they doing with the old cars?" Maybe set them up as pseudo yurts in the back country. How about building a bar around one of them making it centerstage? Any other ideas?

The free hot chocolate out of one of the old cars was a great idea.

They should plant one at the top of Thunder and make it into a bar with a deck. Now that would be sick.

view from inside the last tram

i got lucky and happened to ride the last tram*. here's a view from inside the box. it's a bit hazy as the front glass was getting hammered by snowballs.

you can see that the coverage, even on that last day, was amazing.

    * i say "last tram" as it was the last box of the winter 05-06 season, but there was a bonus day for pass holders who skied over 100 days. the bonus day was phenomenal...like the "old" days -- no lines / no waiting on the tram dock.

also, the tram ran that summer. they saved the very last "public" ride for local celebs and some folks that paid a large amount in an auction.

(the tram ran for patrol last winter, too.)

Dude that is a sweet picture. Excellent. Thanks for posting that up.

I've always wanted to scan the slides my old man has of our mid-seventies jackson trips and post a little retro TR. One of these days.

Thanks for the stoke. Can't imagine how cool riding the mountain would have been those first couple of years.
