My theory: It was a project to discover if national media attention could be brought to a very simple missing person case which bears no relevance on my life when there are much more important things to pay attention to. She suceeded. People disappear every day. A famous professor at Davis disappeared a few months back. He didn't make national headlines. Hell, I never even heard if he was found, turned up dead, or wandered home. The power of the media is staggering.
