2007.09.08 | Mt Matier, Northwest Face

Some new skis came in the mail last Thursday. Ever keane to mount, slide, carve, and spray, off we were to Matier.

The twins have a turbo-diesel Exursion now. That thing is an awesome beast. Five dudes - all with skiing, mountaineering, and camping gear - fit easily and I could still stretch and sleep in the back. Damn near 20 mpg even with all that. They let us slide through the border like royalty in that beast with clean-cut bank boy at the helm.

Got a text message from the rodent in SA this morning. Guess he slayed a big big volcano. A big shout to him, but here's how we do when we gotta stay close to home. I'm still stung about that NZ stoke, so let's call this "Shout at the Devil."

    Dan above the bergschrund

Dan climbs on his frontpoints high on the face.

The scenery up there just kills.

A view of Fatboy from the summit ridge

Stealing a shot from the Fatboy for proper Brotation. What better way to take the fatties for a first spin than on some steep corn?

Dan after his fling - his trax right, Lani's looker's left.

See more of Jason's Matier musings.

Now I need to go see about all that granite up there....

Sorry there aren't more ski pics. I skied first, Josh was filming at the bottom, and I wanted to get it off in one smooth swipe 'cuz I hate videos of that turn-turn-stop shit.

Here's more for the desperate and malcontents who are living in the snow-less southern and eastern US. We love you too, so here's our way of showing it: http://www.cascadecrusades.org/SkiMo...nwface2007.htm

Canada rocks. I apologize for all the fun I've made of it. I was wrong. Canadians may sound funny but there's nothing funny about the Coast Range in september. I still have this fuzzy feeling in my legs and brain. I can't wait to go back!
