KW Comp report for Thursday. (continually updated)

Our reporters (Arty and LPH) in the field have reported in with their first reports.

10am and the comp is just beginning.

Kush managed to get a spot. All the competitors are stoked.

The weather is wind coming from the east to hit the back side of Vista ( opposite side of the ridge that forms today's venue), light snow, 25 F, and very hard snow surface with little chance of much softening.

    10:30am

5 competitors have run and because of the hard conditions the air has been minimal to this point.

Sweet!! This is so cool: so many maggots involved = so much stoke on the board. Good on ya. Props to reporters and competitors alike.

Sick and ashamed and happy (and can just see Kush talking his way into registration),

Ok, I'll pester our reporters for some fresh dribbles and drabbles of info....

    Noon update:

Judging info: Given the hard conditions, the judges aren't expecting too much in the way of airs, but are looking for clean, smooth, and agressive lines.

    1. Tyrone Shoelaces. very nice solid run. 3 good airs, good speed, clean line one of the best runs of the day so far.

    2. MD9 tossed a shoe, and had to hike for it. Given the conditions, that may be a major obstacle for qualifying.

    3. Kush, kushed it over some rocks in potentially ugly style, but got away with some roadrash (same deal on qualifying as MD9)

    4. BakerBoy, skied a solid run with a few nice airs and a tight squeeze through a rockband.

    5. Z-Bo, sorry, our reporter missed his run because he was out trying to sort out a misscommunication with the judges/announcers.

    6. Hardrider hasn't gone yet.

    7. Ladies (Kristen) are up following the men.

This is almost exactly what Ty told me, a month or so ago, was required of a worthy (qualifying) run. Way to stick to the game plan.

As for the hard conditions. That's a surprise and a change from the last month or so in Tahoe.

Thanks for the update Nate, via Arty and IPH.

I'll call Mighty Mountain @ 4 to see how they went. Did both of them enter? Any Aussie contingents fly in from Sydney or Colorado?

Final (semi) realtime report for today.

    2pm:
Hardrider was working on a very good line before getting snowsnaked.

Kristin: Skied a good line with one little bobble, but should be in great shape for qualifying.

great job boys and Kristen! and thanks for the updates!

Just got a call from Ron - sounded like he felt good, and he repeated that BakerBoy had a good solid run as well! Can't wait for tomorrow - I'm thinking I better head up :-) Cheerleading always was my second calling :-)
