Internships in the 16mm/Digital action sports biz?

So, I'm a senior film student at CU and want to start looking for an internship/job for after I graduate in May.

I have already been in contact with TGR about their internship program, just wanted to see what else is out there.

Paid would be cool, but I'm obviously not expecting to find that in an internship.

    thanks

I heard a recent intern there was a man-whore. You may want to be wary.

    Oh man,
I knew there was going to be someone with these dreams coming down the pipe. Take my advice: DON'T TRY TO GET INTO THE FILM INDUSTRY!!!!! Unless you have big cash and want to spend it on someone elses films, unlimited ego, and a love for getting kicked in the nutz. It is a dead end business where people just use you, abuse you, and then in the end forget you. Why would you want to "intern"? What the hell does that mean? If you have an EYE for the shot, repeatedly, then DO NOT WORK FOR FREE! If you suck at filming, then don't do it. I know all of you peeps out there know it all, but if you are good, you must search for at least some day rate. The absolute best thing that you could ever possibly do is make your own films and try to compete with the big guys, and there we go again, you probably don't have enough cash, industry contacts, knowledge of the locations, mountains, skills, or dedication to really make it work. Sorry to ramble, but I spent ten years in the game, filmed segments for around twenty films, made it to the top in the action sports game, and I still had to get out of it. AND I WAS PAID. The biggest mistake was that I worked for other people and you get NO RESPECT when that happens.

GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!!!!!!!!

    yep!

the reality is that actions sports is very competive to film/ and make money at.

Grab that degree kid, and find stable work outside this industry and if your still interested, approach it as a hobby. It will get you farther in the long run.

that way you will grab a steady paycheck while improving your skills and etc....

Myself would not listen to anybody and had to figure this stuff... the hard way.

Try the Big 10 network.. Concentrate on stuff that is not on tv everyday.. gymnastics and diving have huge followings.

Reality no 2: Lets face it, nobody is buying videos or dvd's at the rate they where 5 or even ten years ago...

So going it alone without major funding is a real crap-shoot.

    Best of luck john
