    Atomic Powder Rides?

Ok, so I finally found the ski I think I'm gonna buy. I found some good deal on Atomic Powder Rides(thanks mtnlion) and will be using them as an AT ski for powder only. What do these things ski like, I have heard they are fairly soft, but are they more inclined to be long turner or do they like to make little powder 8's? How durable are they? What is the construction, sidewall or cap? This will be for mostly resort accessed and some short (less then 4 or 5 hours round trip) tours in northern vermont/southern quebec and the adirondacks. I would mount them up with Freerides/Naxos. Is this setup even feasible or are the skis too damn heavy? I was looking at them in a 170, since I'm a fairly small guy, about 5'8'' 135 or 140 lbs. Would the 170 or the 180 be better keeping in mind that these will be skiied about 90% of the time in tight trees/creekbeds where being able to throw the ski around is crucial. I know I've been posting a lot of threads like this lately, so thanks for answering all my questions.

Medium flex, soft tip but firm underfoot.
    Vertical Laminate construction
    Good durability
Not much sidecut, no tight turns
Fairly light ski for it's dimensions, would be a decent touring ski. If only used for pow, definitely not a intermittent conditions ski.
lots of surface area, the 170 might be enough given it's girth.

    dos pesos
Skiing, where my mind is even if my body isn't.

I have those exact skis with look p12s, and I am also the exact same heigth and weight. When I first used them on a 12+ pow day they ripped in the soft stuff and busted through some crud when it started to get tracked out. The soft tip moves a little in the crud but it really doesn't get twitchy enough to throw of your balance. Since I was previously using the lead weight setup, known as the sugar daddy's these things felt very light with the looks mounted flat on them. On groomers they take a while to get used to, but once you get them dialed you can carve them around a little. It took me about 3 days to get them completely dialed for groomers but it took me about 2 runs to get used to them in powder. I use these as my everyday ski since I don't have enough $$ to get more than one setup. PM me if you have any other questions regarding these skis.

Wow, thanks a lot dude. Most info I think I've ever gotten about a pair of skis from one post. Ever. I'll be sure to drop you a PM if I have any more questions.

    your welcome

and will be using them as an AT ski for powder only. What do these things ski like, I have heard they are fairly soft,

med to soft, depending on the number of days they have been skied

but are they more inclined to be long turner or do they like to make little powder 8's?

not much shape, but again med to soft

    How durable are they?

not bad, not great, some delam issues

What is the construction, sidewall or cap?

    cap

This will be for mostly resort accessed and some short (less then 4 or 5 hours round trip) tours in northern vermont/southern quebec and the adirondacks. I would mount them up with Freerides/Naxos. Is this setup even feasible or are the skis too damn heavy?

should be fine, girlguide has them
