Glazing should be fine. It's linseed oil with pumice, so unaffected by water... We leave it exposed to the elements to cure all the time. Main thing to do is prime bare wood before putting in putty, so wood doesn't soak out the oil.

Was going to say the same thing. Dude has a portfolio and a half... Post and beam work that would make Norm envious!

Thanks VTF....I now know why windows are so expensive....although it doesn't seem difficult to set up a system ...and yeah I'm doing patch work with other windows...that's a trick too

You're correct about the glazing BigD.. the windows were installed and the glazing putty exposed the very next day after application...they took on heavy wind and rain...no issues I can see.. water beading up and running off.
    Thanks re: portfolio...still volumes I haven't done, lots to learn, many tools I haven't used...properly anyway :-))

Just occurred to me.. seeing the three of us here together.. with VTF's vast knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, electrical, him also being an extremely talented carpenter ( noted in his custom newel posts and other work ), and your, BigD, creativity, architectural sensitivities, Energizer Bunny characteristics, the ability to swing a hammer, and my love of hand work...we have a pretty good basis for..

Ha, ha... My dream is to have EW & VT-F build a post and beam "Barn-house" that I design on a site I've already cleared and built the road for. Maybe even pound a few nails? Both are serious craftsmen, but it'd probably cost too much in beer fees and we'd lose the site for Ullrfest.

Latest job, convert family room to master suite change heat from woodstove > radiant.

    Before

    After

First two photos from same spot, bumped out area under shelving contains an h2o>h2o heat exchanger radiant circ. system. Lowered all of the bath 1" and installed tubing for radiant floor, 18' of baseboard in bedroom. I balanced it so the bath is approx. 10`warmer than the BR, client is very pleased.
Thanks to ML242 for helping me set the large glass panel in the enclosure. Used These guys for the glass, local quote $2400+tx installed, Rex $945 for materials delivered in less than 2 weeks from initial contact = $$$$ in my pocket. Ask for David Arnold if you use them.

I want in on this craftsman super group. I'll build the millwork. It's about to start getting hot in Texas.

White oak wine cellar doors I've been working on lately:

Sorry for the quality, it's dark in the shop alot these days.

My 14yr just made this one without my help. It's his third board and he's starting to get it dialed in a little. This one is concave with turned up nose and tail. Unweighted it didn't sit flat for him, but that's ok...the next one will...or will be better than this one. The learning process is part of the fun. I'm learning from him.

That's light years ahead of the one I built in wood shop when I was that age.

    Kudos to the kid

Yup, white oak. Scraps from recent doors. It's a stationary box. Unorthodox, I know, not sure if I like it, but it got built.

I meant to mention those doors earlier..pretty cool project and I like that you're getting this experience before becoming a desk bound architect.
Re: the stationary box....it's hard to tell the scale or how it gets used..I've haven't seen a stationary box in like..forever.. It's obviously well done..

I only know about "flecking" cause I had a customer who insisted on flecking in his white oak beams to match the flecking of his white oak doors and the flecking of his white oak floors.....We dubbed it "fucking flecking"... we learned a lot about white oak in the process....red oak does not produce as much dominant flecking... or much at all. I'm thankful to that customer for the learning experience...

Great table up there splitter...I'm sure the fam loved it and you basked in the glory as should be :-))

Beer can holder...yet to have one of those in the bag of tricks...no, it's true..but if I did i'd go with yours tenex

VTF bout time you showed your shit here.....got a good laugh at the Wile Coyote..you always come up with some winner

and yes great board yur kid made sj...i know shit about that though

    New stuff!
This one is a hybrid fantasy piece, for a friend who has a computer company, and is a KTM rider...lots of stuff going on here. The craftsmanship is really developing. Chainguard is vintage...

This thing is so badass on the wall!

EW, I still want to make you something with some badass wood.
    I'll work with ya', man!
And a classic design here, perfect balance of the wood and metal. Really subtle.

    Variations:

And one last one, the Moto belt..
    It's burly
