I like it. Nothing wasted, you know. And you didn't paint it. I hate it when people paint good wood.

Damn, I miss hanging doors some days.

Painting wood is retarded if you live in the semi-arid west. I even refuse to stain decks.

Forgot to mention that it will be getting handrail system of some sort.

Happy Hannukah! (sorry for the X-post, but this could work if you are looking for a great present for your bike-nut Jewish friend who has everything...)
    Happy Early Hanukkah!

I whipped up the first proto menorah yesterday. I really like this.
Thought about making it rotate on the base, but after some reflection, kind of thought that might be a fire hazard...

Sweet rink! That's in NH? It's cold enough right now? And that much snow?

The pictures are from last winter. I was the reason that the east coast got pounded with snow last season. I broke ground one year ago today and we were skating by Dec 19th. The ice held up until the first week of April. We used it almost every night. My wife thinks I did it for the kids.

I was looking at these pictures as I was putting up the boards again last weekend and figured I’d post them here, even though I cheated and used a bobcat.

Temps here are still too high but as soon as the forecast calls for 3 – 4 days in the 20’s, I’ll drop in the liner and call the pool water company. The thing takes over 12,000 gallons. The size is 88’ x 34’.

That rink is awesome! Love the fact that it was "for the kids".

Yup, a form for a 17'5" wood canvas canoe. Added a few more bits since the picture was taken and now it's almost ready for the steam bent ribs and actually making a canoe. Fuckin' bitch.

Would love to see more pictures of this! ^^^^

Nice! That at Atkinson Traveler form?

Ive got an EM White guide model I just took the lines off of out here and am looking at an old Chestnut model to take the lines off of as well, but I think its a little much for our windy rivers out here.

Currently have a 10' wee lassie form and a 14' EM White form already built. Only finished one 10' footer so far though. You will absolutely love the sound of the water on the hull. Amazing.

Looking at this, all I could think of was the Simpsons episode where Homer tried to build the dog house.

Its structurally sound, but I think my dogs are still kind of pissed.
People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

    Thanks!
Looks like I will have time to really dive into the art again in the next few months. Biggest bummer is that I have to cancel my welding classes, which were supposed to start next week....
Hey, if anyone knows any local businesses that might be interested in custom work, please send any contacts my way, I will hook y'all up with art if something works out...

It was fun digging through the archives to see what I've come up with:

Glacier Creek Climbing Compound. 3 story Squatter cabin built back Girdwood Valley around 1998. Still there...

Second house: Ground level tree house, built with spruce as corner posts. You'd get sea sick inside when it was real windy. The whole family lived in it for a month while I finished the next dwelling across the property... And to believe the neighbours were worried about us moving into the neighbourhood. (pregnant sunbathing)

Third house: Built from scratch, nice cedar siding

I let the wife pick the colors

My first legit wood stove installation

Sweet wood shed, out house in background. Neighbors not stoked on that one, heh, heh

Go Pro footage of getting racked in the nuts not included. In background, sauna built from all local materials except for 2x4 roof

Current house, with recycled deck materials. Built boat with pops a long time ago.

Nice little canoe rebuild after destroying it trying to float big water. All maple you can see.

Not my house, but I worked on it

3 miles of DH track in Smithers with 82 jumps all hand shaped and tested by yours truly

Another 12 + miles of dh trail in Alaska by hand and machine

Working on the 35th pair of skis right now. Oh and that wooden box on back of truck...

    That is all for now

I built the rod, not the fish.

On this one, I kind of like the way I detailed the reelseat.

Wish I had a good pic of my front porch to share.
