Hey you Oregonians--
I'm still trying to talk myself into that 4th of July T-line mini. Are Bachelor or Hood Meadows typically still open for skiing on the 4th of July?

Meadows-no. Batchelor--sometimes, I skied there into July about 5 or 6 years ago, not sure now. Cletus should know.
Come to the mini regardless, I didn't even ski last year and still had a blast!
Come on out, we'll make it worth the trip.
I'll lead trips up to the top of Hood. If the snow/crevasse situation on Snowdome is okay we can have great corn and terrain over there. I've got 2 rando set ups that I will gladly make available for maggot-kind to hunt for the goods and do some exploring. Plus Timberline in the summer can be great for watching huckers and jibbers.
All this plus a gang o'maggs, lots of beer, campfires, mountain biking, etc.

I'll be there shooting the same photo over and over and over and over again of campers at Windell's.
PlatPete-
The issue isn't what to do once I'm there--I've been skiing/boarding/bootpacking T-line for over ten years (and I'm already going to be there in August and September).
What I'm trying to decide is if THREE months in a row AND missing most of a family reunion is even thinkable. I was trying to sweeten the pot by adding a couple of new places.
I appreciate your invitation to lead a group to the dome. If I'm able to make this work for July, I'll bring my skins and take you up on it.
BTW, T-line frequently has the reputation of being a boring, less than exciting pitch. I'm pretty sure I've exceeded interstate highway speeds on Palmer a few times without trying too hard. I'm bringing my radar gun this summer to bust the sissy-slope myth.
I'll be there, and I'll be bringing bc gear. I'm assuming that we'll be wanting harness and such? I don't have a light weight rope, do others? (All I have are two 11mm nondrys and a 10mm static).

Depends what light weight is. I have an 8.8 mm Dry but its a 60m (and no I won't chop it). Still a lot lighter than a 10 or 11.Originally posted by Telenater

Wouldn't expect anyone to chop a rope. Hell, I've only been on a glacier where crevases were a concern a few times and each of those I had a guide to keep my ass out of trouble. Hopefully if we do go into that kind of a situation, we'll have someone with the gear and experience to minimize problems.

There is a 4th mini this year? Somebody better get on top of this if it's really going to happen.
