One location may be dropped. Another one may be added.
The new one?
Starts with an A. Might have a K.

Naturally, I hope Kirkwood doesn't get the axe.

I bet either Jackson or Tride are up to be dropped.

who knows....but if Alas...errr I mean Arkansas, is truly going to host an event, it seems to make more sense looking from the outside in that it would be a World Tour stop, and not a US Tour stop. Thus it would seem more likely that a past World Tour event would get dropped and Arkansas would take it's place.
oooohhh the theories!! the drama!!! the unfounded speculation!!! the nailbiting!!!!
spill it Alto! spill it!!!
Bump because all the info should be coming out soon.
But you might as well spill it now alto.
Updates to the usfreeskiing.com site look to be in progress, maybe this week it will all be up and official, still no info though.

Drum roll please...
The 2008 Subaru U.S. Freeskiing Series venues will include (in no order related to dates):
Snowbird, Utah
Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Squaw Valley, California
Kirkwodd, California
Alyeska, Alaska (NEW FOR 2008!)
Yay. Kirkwad's still there.
One would think that means Alyeska will be the finals?

Sweet lineup (and of course glad to see both Squaw and KW there)....Alyeska? Sick....
I'm assuming both Snowbird and Kirkwood are again a World Tour stops? Is Alyeska a World Tour event or just a US Tour event?
Looks like the Boy of Lemon was correct in that they dropped Tohelluride!
The US Tour is essentially a feeder tour for the World Tour Events. I don't know the specifics off the top of my head, but people pre-qualify for the World Tour events based on the previous seasons results. You can see the 2008 World Tour prequalified list here and also see how they got there: http://www.freeskiers.org/modules.ph...howpage&pid=29
If you're not prequalified for the World Tour events, you can still compete in them, but you have to fight it out on the slopes during a Qualifier. Basically Snowbird and Kirkwood and the other World Tour events will tag on an extra day where all the comp jongs like you and me battle it out. then based on these results, they cut the field in half or by a third or something, and these top guys from the qualifier move on to the actual World Tour event where they compete against all the pre-qualified guys.
The US Tour events are simpler. you sign up, pay the man, and ski day one, hopefully make the cut for day two, and that's it. just two days with no separate pre-qualifying day.
that's basically how it works. hope that makes sense.
oh and entrance fee last year I think were around $100 - $125 or something a comp. And for the World Tour events, if you aren't pre-qualified, it's $100 - $125 just for the qualifier, and then if you qualify, you have the honor of ponying up another hundred or so to compete against the pre-qualified guys. So start your sponsor hunt...
EDIT: and it is very cool to see that the organizers have Neal Valliton on the World Tour pre-qualified list for next season. RIP Neal.

FUCK YEAH!
So fucking stoked.
I actually had heard they were considering dropping Kirkwood (spelled Kirkwodd on the announcement here: http://www.usfreeskiing.com/2006/2006_schedule.html) (and yes, 2006 in the url does link you to the 08 info). I am however, very, very stoked that didn't end up happening. As far as I know, the Cirque is the premier venue in the lower 48 that has been used, and it would be a shame to lose it.
But Alyeska. Fuck yeah. I would assume it will be World Tour, I mean c'mon, its friggin Alaska.
And jesus, that looks like such a fucking awesome list of areas to get to go to, let alone to get to compete at. Squaw: sick. Bird: sick. Kwood: sick. Jackson: sick. Alyeska: sick.
Hopefully we'll hear soon about Europe WT events. LA, Tignes, Verb. Oooh baby.
Droppin Tride? Kinda bummed.
Tons of fun last year and the finals venue has so much potential. But AK? That's pretty sick.
Drive slow, homie.
kill it y'all
In the new Powder, The article about the Honda Freeski Tour mentioned they were considering the possibility of hosting a big mountain event. Anyone know anymore info on that?
