    Tahoe Fire 8/18?

    Hola,
Just got off the phone with someone in Tahoe City. They said Talmont hill is on fire. Anyone have any more to add?

Just got a call from my parents. They're in the Albertson's parking lot in TC watching the helicopter work and are saying two fixed-wing aircrafts just arrived in the last minute.

The saw a bit of smoke from State Line while driving back to Squaw and have said the thing has gotten a lot bigger in the last 15 minutes. My Dad sounds concerned. Let's hope they can knock it down quickly.

Oh shit, for those not in the know, Talmont area is the hilly area a couple miles down the west shore where Paige Meadows backs up to.

My Dad is saying they've now got multiple helicopters and planes working on this thing.

    I hesitate to post this.

They ran into some friends who have a house in Tahoe Park just east of Sunnyside. They said the fire started on their street. When the authorities made everyone evacuate the fire was 3 houses away. They're virtually certain they've lost their house and will be staying at my parent's home tonight.

It's called the "Washoe Fire", may have started on Washoe Way; CDF and Tahoe Chiefs cooperators are sending the world. 2 CDF handcrews enroute from Washinton Ridge. They just requested 2 additional air tankers.

My wife spoke with a friend 15" ago who lives on Cedar Crest. She stated the fire is one street over on Pine Avenue. Her husband is out trying to help fight the fire while wife and friend are hosing the house down. They are very worried.

I've got one hell of a view of it from my house (from a distance but downwind). Just collecting important stuff before I bother posting photos. Not real encouraging looking, though there's an arsenal working on it. By the way, Jamie, way to start a thread on this from South America!

The Sierra Sun is reporting that five homes were burned, but the threat is "significantly diminished."

It was projected to be contained by 10pm yesterday, according to the Sierra Sun.

Sounds like it got put out with only 3-5 house affected. Given the hilly area, the extremly dry winter and current red flag warning, safe to say that it could have been expontentially worse. Kudos to firefighters!

    With these insane winds......
But news this Sunday a.m. says it is close to being contained.
