It rained about 3" overnight Sat. after a 100+ heatwave for a week. Wilson Creek came up to a very minimal level but it was enough to have fun.
There were people all over the place swimming in the pools between rapids (yeah, we have pools between rapids here).
Exhibit 1: Two kids, about 15-16 ran the whole gorge in a Coleman inflatable probably purchased at Wal-Mart.
One of these:

We followed them to give them the lines and enjoy the carnage we were sure they would provide. Did I mention they weren't wearing helmets or PFD's? They ran a drop, a kid fell out and dissapeared in the hole against a wall. He resurfaces and my friend runs the drop to help him and pitons into the kids head. No harm done though. They made it down alive.![]()
Exhibit 2: Some fat redneck jumps in, on purpose, again, no helmet and no PFD. Swims Triple Drop and stands up in each of three holes.![]()
Exhibit 3: Black lab growling and parking at us from the bank before a rapid. We enter the rapid and the dog runs into the rapid after us like he's chasing a car. As soon as he gets in the water the growling and barking turns to whining and wimpering as he's at the river's mercy. Dissapears into a hole, resurfaces, then looks at us and swims to shore in the pool below.
