photoshop tech talk CS2 upgrade prob

Im trying to upgrade to CS2 ( yes i know the current software is CS3 )
so i have an old version of photoshop and i dont have my install disks. I now have a CS2 box set of upgrade disks, but halfway into installing them i am prompted to enter my old serial #s, which i dont have.

Anyone have any ideas how to install an upgrade without the original serial #s?
any techy dorks with workarounds or hacks please let me know.

    thanks mags.

I am not sure about the exact Photoshop version you already have installed -but the things you could try would be to check with the existing software (help about and see if there is the serial number) - the number they are asking for should have been on stickers on the original media and had to be entered during the installation the first time, maybe on the original manual or the box too. (I assume you do not have any of those items around any more)

Otherwise, 3rd party software "key finding" utility software will go out and inspect the computer and report back the serial numbers or license info on installed packages. Belarc and a few other software inventory packages (any that are designed to check for legit licensing info too) are the types of packages to go google up.

If you have registered the package before with Adobe, then they may be able to provide the serial number. If all these fail, then you may be out of luck the legit ways and have to do some searching on the internet for less legit work-arounds.

cs3 is hard to hack, but cs2 is pretty easy to get (illegally) in about half an hour with keygens, torrents, etc.

If your previous version was registered with Adobe, call customer service. They can look up your details. They then run you through a work around using the RUN command - something like d:\setup.exe UNLOCK. Then during install you are prompted with a code. You give that code to the rep. They give you a response code to enter into the blank. And your done. The install progresses normally from there.

can anyone in the CO front range offer their old disks with serial #s? something older than cs2?

what i really need is an older copy than cs2 so i can install that version & then i can use my cs2 upgrade discs.

At least on the PC side that I work with you do not have to install the older version at all. You start with the upgrade and during it's install it just asks for the old serial number to verify previous ownership.
