    2008 Salomon 916 Question

Do the Sallie 916's for next year have the independent toe wing adjustments?

I was trolling around on the Sallie "Southern Hemisphere" site looking at next year's gear, and the "graphic" used for the S916's and STH 16 for that matter looks like that of a 914 with a fixed AFD.

There always exists the possibility that they goofed with the graphic (wouldn't be the first time some web ding-dong did so), but I thought I'd look to those in the know to assuage my anxiety.

Here is the link to the pics:

I just clicked on the STH 16 link and under wing adjustment it says: micro simultaneous wings adjustment. I guess the come with a free tube of blue loc-tite in addition to the standard 130-mm brakes?

well, on that site, if you zoom in on the pic of the 916 labs, the din goes from 4 to 12.

True...that's why I'm wondering if the pics got mixed up or if they are indeed changing the toe piece.

Atomic already killed the standard toe in anything less than DIN 14, so I am curious if they are pushing that toe into the higher DIN bindings since it is likely cheaper to make than last year's 916/920 toe piece.

My next thought is that if they are indeed changing the 916 toe, then the current 916's floating around might become a little more valuable.

I actually don't really like the 914 toe piece when you have to use it with trekkers as I found the toe piece width correctly adjusted for my boot (Salomon Course) was too wide for trekkers resulting in alot of slop in the trekker to toe piece.

STH 16's have micro simultaneous wings adjustment and the composite wing and heel cup construction of the 912/914. 916 comps stay the same with independent wing adjustment and metal construction. Comp's might be scarce this year because Salomon is not supplying any race product in the US for '08. Dont have any scoop if they are bringing any in for freeride/freestyle athletes.
