Nothing like getting the confidence beaten out of you...

So this past wednesday, took a run down the gorge on SF of the american. it was my first time on class III and i styled it. Felt awesome and was stoked on my skill improvement. got to run it again today at slightly higher flows. Man did it kick my ass. i was thrashed by the time i got halfway through the gorge itself and bailed to my friends oar frame.

its amazing what a difference a boat makes, first time was in a lil joe, which is like a tank, this time was in a pyranha s6f. i would have prefered a bit more volume since i got pushed around a ton. am going out again tommorow so hopefully will get back on the horse

You'll be fine. I was a little timid after running a few things in one day with spthomson and swimming on both. Next week i was ready to charge again, and swam again too

Stay at it, man. If you had "god knows how many flips" but only two swims, then you were doing something right. The Gorge on the SF is a great place to pay your dues: swirly but mostly inconsequential. Better for you to learn how to deal with being upside down on that run than on something like Cherry Creek. If it happens again, back off and spend a few park and play days at barking dog. If you can roll there, you can roll almost anywhere. And if you can't roll there, take a lesson.

Nobody ever learned how to kayak without that kinda thing happening once or twice.
