    Anybody from Burlington?

Tell me about the place. Cost of living, food, bars, women, culture. I know the skiing is good.

    Might have a job.

Cost of Living - getting more expensive but very affordable compared to what you're used to.

Food - Yes, quite good. Not NYC style resturants, but plenty of good stuff.

Bars - There used to be more bar stools than full time residents (excluding students).

Culture - Well, it is VT. There isn't a world class ballet or anything like that. Plenty of music, not all hippy jam bands. Good stuff put on by the school. Octoberfest, Spring Fling, etc.

Overall - Pretty cool place. Although it is a college town, the students truely are part of the community. Traffic can be suprisingly shitty Shelburne Rd. and can't remember the other one. The reason most people move is because of the lack of jobs so it you've got that bonus. I heard the employment situation is getting worse because of the IBM layoffs in Essex. Tourism is the #1 industry so you've got all the associated gapage. Montreal is the closed major city about 1.5hrs.

i'm not from there, but visited my best friend often while he was in school at champlain college. sorry for butting in, but i love that place and think if you have the chance to live there you'd be silly not to strongly consider it. burlington is a beautiful town and much cheaper than a big city, but not as inexpensive as you might guess because of the large student popluation at uvm.

awesome bars... watching the simpsons during happy hour at the three needs (right off of church st.) makes me feel warm and fuzzy. the entire area around church street can get a bit tired, but for there are lots of good people around town. plenty of variety as far as restaurants, all across the spectrum. if you're living close to burlington, then you're close to the magic hat brewery. they've always got plenty of good beer to put into your growler.

somebody said to me once that the culture of burlington is almost something like a boulder, co thing but up in northern vermont. the closest big city is montreal, which is a good time and has most anything you'd need out of a city. the area around the border is beautiful... played 18 holes of golf at a place in arlburg, vt that was just about right on the lake and it only cost us something like $20. awesome.

seven days is a local paper that you might want to peruse for more info and such.

Burlington=good. One of my two favorite small cities, along with Portland, ME. The mountains, the lake, a lively cultural scene, access to Montreal, some of the prettiest countryside anywhere...

If I had a chance to move there without taking a big financial hit I would do it in a minute.

    Ha ha

I checked out this site, and went straight to the personals (always a good gauge of the "dating" scene), and this popped up immediately!

"PW, 38, adventurous, ATTRACTIVE friendly, intelligent. In lesbian relationship, hoping to connect w/man interested in "gifting" sperm. You: open-minded, attractive, intelligent, trustworthy, someone whom, for whatever reason, feels interested in helping to start a life, w/out the custodial or financial obligations."

    What a town!

Somewhere in Vermont ten years from now:

    "Mommy, who's my daddy?"

"Well that's a story for another day, but, ewe would know him if ewe saw him."

I wonder if it's actual sex or one of those turkey-baster deals. And if it's real sex, would both lesbians be there? 'Cause Tickets are cheap on Southwest, ya know what I'm saying?

    Talking Washington?

Geez - when I first saw the subject line I thought you meant "Burlington, Washington." That is not a place you want to live if you're looking for nightlife/dating fun.

    City of Burlington

    Edit: clarification

Yeah, Burlington is great, and only a short drive to Mount Vernon. Lots of nice apartments right next to the freeway. Probably a few mall jobs available. Only about 30 miles from DINMS. You can't lose!
    There are sheep around too.
In drove this drunken madman and stopped on a dime! Unfortunately the dime was in Mr. Rococo's pocket!
