Cool TR: 7.29.07 Late-July Snow Hunting.

With the most of the once large summer snowfields dwindling to small patches and horizontal cornices, we didn't have many choices for today. The skyscraper area was the decided location. The skiers were myself, Eben, Jake, and Sean.

    Not an encouraging sight.

With nasty weather to the east we opted for another location.

    After a little hiking.

    The lines appear.

    And the skiing ensues.

    Jake.

    Eben.

    Doug.

Snow on the skis and flowers on the ground.

    Sean.

    More Eben.

The lines turned out to be even longer than they appeared from across the valley.

The obligatory 'spray on the rocks' shot.

    Content, for now, we leave.

    B&W lines.

    See ya Later.

These two shots really say it all. Gotta love the dedication to getting your turns.

    Right on.

I almost went up yesterday/sunday too but since I got stung 3 times by yellowjackets on Saturday my legs were swollen and hurting.

I'll probably head up this weekend to get some Aug turns.

Ya alot of the stuff just turned brown over here in Clear Creek this year. It looks like there's a good stretch of new beatle kill between Bakerville and Loveland on the North side.

    Wow! Nice one!
I'm very impressed by the ability of Maggots to find skiable "stretches" in the heights of summer
Also impressed at the work you'se put in just getting to them
