Date: July 4th, 2007
Location: Bridger Range, Montana
Players: Lexi-Bell, Hao Zang Xiao, Nate-dogg
Objective: The Great One Couloir
This was a day of firsts for all of us: first skiing this late in the year (by a lot), first time skiing the line, and first time skiing in shorts. Except for me, I'm too scared so I brought pants.
Sun's barely up and already there's bad traffic
Mmmmm, purdy
A closer look at the first part of the line

HZX doin a little downclimbing into the coolie, this is it, right?
Looking down the first section of the Great One, snow ends very close to the big angled rock outcrop. Early in the season or in higher snow years the line is continuous (read workinforturns)
First turn in six weeks, yahoo!!
Ohhh man! That was just corn-TASTIC!!
Nate lovin the starchy yellow nuggets, CORN!!!
Jubilation was abundant. We took off our skis and bounced down the scree towards the last section. Whoa, much steeper, narrower, firmer, and off-angle. Let's go!
If you look closely you can spot a guy climbing up the coolie lookers left. He said he thought he could save some time on a more direct route but was mistaken. He also didn't consider the rockfall factor, sorry dude.
At the end of our hike out we were rewarded with this; the cool waters of Fairy Lake. Unfortunately, the biting flies and mosquitos love it too so our soak was short-lived.
These guys were just getting going when we were heading out, and one of them told me "Skiing is the solution to freedom, man!!!"
They also left their car door wide open.
