    Sopranos?

So, what's the concensus on this season so far? My plan was to give it 3 episodes not to suck, and then I was giving up. Well, I'm not totally sure what to think. Tony and Carmella being split-up is nice because we haven't had to deal w/ any of that bullshit. It seems like they're building up to something pretty big, but they did that last year, and before I knew it the season was over and NOTHING had happened. They've introduced a crap-load of new characters to kill, so that might add to the action, but I'm gonna need somebody BIG to get whacked to be completely satisfied.

On the other hand, I'm not sure that anything can salvage the show for me. Killing and violence just don't really do it for me anymore. I'm starting to hope that Tony is the one to get it. They've suplemented killing off the big actors (sort of the appeal of the show for me) with getting rid of or beating the shit out of normal people. I guess I had less of a problem with mob guys dying cause that's the line of work they chose or whatever. But, all this bullying and harassment has just gotten old.

Personally, I'm just looking forward to a new season of Six Feet Under.

It's not about the killing and violence. Or, if you will, we live in a world surrounded by bullying, killing, and violence. Tony to me is just an ambitious everyman.

I heard David Chase on NPR right before the season started. He said one more season, and he knows how it will end.

i like it. they've got more of the mob business aspect in it, and for some reason, i find it interesting.

also, i've put in my time in northern jersey, so it's kind of nostalgic at times.

Its a good series. I watch it til the end, but I agree, its not the same as the first few seasons.

I think I'm going to like Deadwood.

It seems like every single plot line that is interesting is avioded, i.e. the Russians.

I think that it's pretty good. Remember the last shot of Tony sitting by the pool with the AK in the first episode....

I think he is going to snap big time! Certainly won't be boring...

Maybe, but Paulie's violent rages never fail to entertain. How funny was that when he walked away with the guy's lawn mower in the last episode? He deserves a spin-off.

    Here ya go!

David Lee Roth to Appear on 'Sopranos'
    Wed Mar 24,10:30 AM ET

LOS ANGELES - There's another "isn't that so-and-so?" cameo coming up on "The Sopranos": Former Van Halen lead singer David Lee Roth (news) makes a quick appearance in this Sunday's episode.

    AP Photo

Roth and his wild long, white hair are playing cards with Tony Soprano and a bunch of Soprano's cronies, including Silvio — played by another musician, E Street Band member Steve Van Zandt.

The singer tells Rolling Stone, "You know 20 years ago, Tony Soprano was driving around Jersey in his Iroc-Z just blasting the Van Halen."

Meanwhile, Van Halen's Web site posts cities where the band will perform, with a promise of "more info coming soon!!"

However, the posting doesn't say which of Van Halen's three singers — David Lee Roth, Sammy Hagar (news) or Gary Cherone — will be fronting the band. The biographical information section lists only the Van Halen brothers — drummer Alex and guitarist Eddie — and bassist Michael Anthony (news).

Publicists for Roth and Hagar did not respond to requests for comment.
"It appears my hypocrisy knows no bounds."

I think Steve Buscemi wrote that episode. Hands down the funniest Soprano's.

    Thumbs up

This last episode was brilliant. I like how they've started using the landscaping business for fodder. You can't go 1 block around here without running into an armada of mexicans blowing dust off the sidewalks with backpack blowers. I'd tune in just to watch Feetch blow his top. Paulie just can't help but steal something. Somebody's getting popped this Sunday and I can't wait.

Paulie walking off with the lawn mower was hilarious. I also like the line when he told Tony that the tree trimmer dude "jumped" out of the tree. Sadly, I think Paulie is going to get it.

I caught a repeat of DeadWood last night (had to miss it Sunday, you know, Arrested Development was on. Outside of Curb Your Enthusiasm, the funniest show on TV), wasn't overly impressed, but it usually takes a few episodes to set the tone for a new show.

I haven't seen any of this season, but after last season I'm pretty sure Paulie is going to get it. I also think for the shows sake Tony and Carmella need to get back together. It is just wierd with them apart. And I was really pissed last season when they never resolved the Russian episode.

about the jersey thing... i live in jersey and it's pretty cool watching it because first off there were some scenes filmed in my town along with two other towns around where i live...and in last weeks episode when they're talking about all the HS football teams, one of those schools was mine so it was pretty cool to actually be mentioned, and it's pretty obvious who's in the mob in real life anyways

Makes sense, that was the only good episode last season.

I'll give you the landscape fiasco, very entertaining. I don't know about killing Paulie off, I think they may go bigger (hoping). I have a feeling that Furio will become a player in some of the action. They've barely mentioned that whole deal this and last season. I can see him bringing some Sicilians back to the US to do some damage.

I really hope they don't kill Paulie. Him and Ralphie (Joe Pants) are/were the two best scumbag characters on the show. If you take them away most of the comedy goes with them and we end up with "As the Mafia World Turns" (see last season's Carmela-Tony relationshippy cryfest for evidence of how much that sucks)

I swear, I must be the only person in this state who doesn't watch this show. My (very Italian) landlord's son has been an extra on the show multiple times over.

Yeah, 2 new characters gone this week (well, if you don't count her "assistant").

    The super glue was hilarious.
