    Securafix- somebody stop me

t-p has them for pretty damn cheap. why shouldn't i just get them for my gf to do a very flat tour from time to time or to use myself on an alpine rig.

Cuz they are wight a ton, break regularly, and a pain to adjust.

They work for short tours from the chair, but are a pain for anything long, steep, and make the ski very tippy.

Cheaper than a real touring set up either one of you can use them

Go for it....wouldn't use them for more than an hour at a time though.....I have done a fair few miles on mine...just make sure your not the one on them whils somone else is on your real touring rig....this has happend to me more than once due to lack of adjustability in the dammed things

cool, thanks guys. that's the basic idea just to have them in the pack if the need arises for a quick hike, otherwise i've got some touring binders on another set.

    secra-fix

probably not a bad idea if you're getting a good deal on them, if not, go for the bca trekker adapters. The heal elevators on my secura-fix bent beyond the point of no repair after about an hour on them. Now I won't do any sort of touring without my touring rig.

How much are they? You can find BCA Trekkers used for $80-$100 and those are bomber.

They were basically designed for Euros climbing or traversing between lifts. They are great for throwing in your pack with skins to venture away from the lifts, but not what you want if you are actually talking about "touring." Worst case scenario is that they will turn you off to real AT skiing, which is a blast with the right equipment.
