    Ninthward Group Purchase

I've been working with Five Axis, who is a ski and snowboard manufacturer, on picking up a set of Ninthward First Bloods skis. They are interested in clearing these out and have them listed on E-bay right now with some decent BIN pricing.

    http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZfiveaxis05QQhtZ-1

Assuming we can get a discount over the E-bay pricing who would be interested in what model and at what price?

    http://www.fiveaxis.com/

    http://www.twsbiz.com/twbiz/features...092124,00.html

The 180 First Blood is 123/91/116 or the 190 is 125/97/118
    THA 138/109/128
They also have their Butterlicious park skis that might be available as well.

    http://www.ninthward.com/180-firstblood.html

Looks like the dimensions change on the 190's on the website, presumably for the coming year?

Those THA FAT's look great, I may be interested in a pair of those. If the price gets a little better I will definitely be up for a pair.

I'd be down for a pair of THAs for around $200.

I'd definitely be down for a pair of 1st bloods (probably 190) if I could get some beta. Can't find jack about flex characteristics...even dropped first axis a line and they essentially came back with "Real good ski! You buy now!"

    Anyone?

And I could possibly be suckered into some THA's too if they end up being cheap.

Thinking somewhere around $190 shipped for 1st bloods and $200-210 for THAs.

BTW, I might have access to a UPS account with a hefty shipping discount if you were going to get them all shipped to you and re-distribute.

Also, Five Axis told me the 190 first bloods were 125-97-114...?

The first bloods in a 190 are supposed to be a stiffer twin. MSP style. But i have no personal experience so fwiw

For any bargaining power, I plugged the numbers into an ebay fee calculator...

If the First Bloods are listed at $195 and sell for $195, and the buyer pays with Paypal, First Axis is getting charged $16.42 total fees when it sells, and $2.90 when it doesn't.

The THA 187 is $21.01 for a sale, and $4.10 for nonsale.

There have been quite a few non-sale auctions too, so that adds up quickly.

Just so you guys know, there is a reason that 5axis is selling these skis instead of Ninthward. I'll get to the bottom of that reason shortly (I've been in contact with Campbell the CEO) but I suspect it is related to the fact that Ninthward production went so poorly and was soo late this year that the brand severed it's contract with the factory and refused to pay for pairs that were not up to par and that were too late to sell to dealers.

Every other ski that has ever come out of the 5axis factory has fallen apart. Just to warn you, but it is a place where snowboards are made and where startup ski brands go to cheaply do their first run.

When I have more facts i'll let you know.

Here is a sister thread on Tech Talk I started last week.

I'm not counting the maybes, so assume a 15% discount, who would pony up the cash. I've run GP's for car stuff before and the maybes are about 10% when if comes down to payment.

I would like to see confirmation of this. I own a 1st gen pair of 4frnts, made at 5axis, and they are bomber.....a possible story with the history of this company is that Campbell defaulted on his comitments and 5axis is saying F'off. I would be in for of this years Silva's or 187s.

Yeah, like I said - I'm definitely in for THA (~$200) so long as these aren't some "crap batch"... that said, is it possible to get any kind of confirmation before we do this?

There are some blems floating around in cyberspace which appear to be the ones that had the bases upside down so the 9 was a 6 or something of the like but according the five axis these are not blems. Can't speak much more than that to the quality. Anyone in the California want to take a peak?

I would definitely be down for a pair of THA's for <$250, assuming that it isn't a defective batch. THA 187 looks like a nice ski.

    EDIT: Changed my price floor.

So it turns out its all 05/06 stuff and Campbell says it's legit. I just know that all of the 05/06 stuff I saw had issues but he said they'd be bomber. None of the newer stuff is available in this deal. All of the 5axis stuff is AS IS though, no warranty.

He did tell me that Backcountry.com has a bunch of 07 stuff that is under warranty and that we could get a group buy together on that as well.

They are producing in Austria now and expect to keep going/growing.

I'm also definitely in for THAs if they aren't blems for ~$200.

Sounds sketch, but for $200 buck or less what are we all expecting. Sounds like the below may be an upcoming SAC deal? As said I am in for the 187 05/06 or 06/07 shipped for under $200

Ehh... I don't read too good.

    15% off of $250 for THAs comes out to $37.50. So, $250 - $37.50 = $212.50. I'm definitely in for that.
