The Best WH spokesman in recent history was Mike McCurry. His conscience got the better of him when he was asked to lie about Monica so he quit. Great guy - it's been steadily downhill ever since until Snow.

Yeah, he comes across as smarmy, but they all do in a way. That knowing smirk when they're asked a question they're not going to answer is the thing. At least some of them still come across as human, whereas Lockhart was a bully, Fleisher an asshole, and McClellan a piece of shit.
