Is it possible to fit an entire DH bike in one bike box? Suggestions on how to do this? I can probably throw some smaller awkward parts in my luggage if need be.

I had my trail riding bike boxed up for a train ride across the country last fall. I took it to the local bike shop and had them do it. They removed both wheels, pedals, and taped the handlebars to the top tube. Come to think of it I think they left the rear wheel on. Also removed the saddle. The box was about 3.5'x5'. It was simple to put the bike back together. Good Luck.
you will need to pull the fork. a dh bike usually doesn't fit in a normal bike box with the fork on.
My AS-X came from Canadialand in one box with forks in place. Perhaps you will have more trouble if your fork has more travel. Loosen up the head and pull the bars and stem along with the front wheel. Putting the bike back together was quick and easy.
you might not have to pull the fork. you may be able to loosen the crown bolts and slide the legs up in the crown to help the fit.
